Hagia Sophia Mosque - The grand Church of Hagia Sophia (Divine Wisdom) is one of the most renowned and visited landmarks on the Historical Peninsula. Hippodrome - The Hippodrome, a venue for numerous sporting events, dates back to 203 AD, during Emperor Septimius Severus’s reign. Under Constantine the Great, it was expanded to 480 by 118 meters. German Fountain - In 1898, German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm visited Istanbul. This fountain was gifted to Sultan Abdulhamit in honor of the visit. Inside the dome are mosaic monograms of both leaders.
Obelisk of Theodosius - The granite obelisk in the Hippodrome’s center dates back to 1450 BC. It was erected in memory of Thutmose in front of the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes and brought to Istanbul in 390 by Emperor Theodosius.
Serpent Column - This column, featuring three intertwined snakes, formed the base of a golden vase. It commemorates the Greek victory over the Persians in 478 BC and was originally erected in front of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. Persian shields were reportedly used in its construction.
Cemberlitas Sutunu - Little is known about this obelisk, but it is believed to have been erected by Constantine. Originally covered in bronze, it was dismantled and looted during the Fourth Crusade when mistaken for gold.
Grand Bazaar - The Grand Bazaar, considered the world’s largest and oldest shopping center, spans 45,000 square meters and houses 3,600 stores. Once the economic heart during the Ottoman era, it is now a must-visit for shoppers in Istanbul, attracting up to 500,000 visitors daily.
