Mageirotechneio Taverna Paraga - The tour starts in the unspoilt mountain village of Apollona nestled on the foothills of Profitis Ilias.
First, you will stop for a quick tour of an all-women’s agricultural co-operative and learn how these proud, resourceful women run their enterprise and why they decided to do so. Here you will see them making one of their local delicacies and be introduced to all their products.
From there, after a relaxing walk through the village, you will visit a local winery and learn about various Rhodian grape varieties. Here, after sampling some local wines you will understand first-hand why Rhodes produces many award-winning wines.
The highlight of the tour will be a cooking class from an expert local cook in the village who will share her secrets in making traditional, famous Greek dishes including tzatziki and aubergine salad. Learn how to make dolmadakia and Greek cheese pies too!
Finally, you conclude your time in Apollona by feasting on the exceptional lunch that you and your fellow cooks have lovingly prepared.
Before you leave Apollona, you will visit a traditional Greek Kafeneion and learn how to prepare the most traditional Greek Coffee and of course sample one for yourselves!

Lovely day tour combining history and good food - Lovely day tour, combining cooking and the history of Rhodes and its villages. The tour guides were very nice and knowledgeable and the food and wine were delicious.

Cooking, Tasting and Learning about Rhodes Villages - The entire day was wonderful!! Our tour guide was sooo much fun and full of information. Took us thru the hills and up to a village where we say local bakery, wine tasting, learned to make local greek dishes and enjoyed eating them as well. Took us to a local coffee house where we saw greek coffee being made from scratch and enjoyed drinking as well. Hated to see the day end as we really had a fantastic time. Was one of my best experiences while traveling thru Greece - Rhodes is spectacular island!!

This outing is a must - Fantastic experience. Traveled across Rhodes with wonderful guide and experienced the Island like a local. Preparing it own meal was much fun and tasty. The local wine tasting was terrific as well. I have to say it was the best (and only) roast goat I have ever tasted

Cookery and winery day - This trip was such a delight to do. The communication from HT was perfect. Everything was so well organised and really good fun with a lovely little walk around this beautiful mountain village. No hard sell at all either.

Learning how to prepare authentic Greek foods with Maria! - I believe the name of the company was Trekking Rhodes but we did a fabulous cooking class and walk around with Maria. It was 3 couples and she drove us in her a/c car to an open Restaurant set up for us to prepare a lovely Greek meal. We prepared 4 items, from fresh vegetables and dairy goods.. while they cooked Maria took us for a walk to see the local produce growing, taught us what some unusual herbs and fruits. Then we back and our food was served with lots of extras.And some yummy wine to go with our lunch.
She really took care of us. We stopped on our way back for some coffee and sweets at other local places.
She never pushed us into any tourist traps which we appreciated.

Food tour in Apollona - We took a private tour with Addie, who was a wonderful guide. We highly recommend a smaller group (we were just 4) as we had a lot more flexibility in what we wanted to do. The cooking lesson was great fun, and we also enjoyed eating the fruits of our labour afterwards. Meeting the women of the food cooperative in the village, and the wine tasting rounded out our visit to Apollona. Happy memories!
