Setting Sail on a Longtail Adventure

The morning sun was just beginning to cast its golden glow over Ao Nang as I found myself at the Nopparat Thara Pier, ready to embark on the Hong Island Snorkeling Tour. The anticipation of a day filled with oceanic wonders had me buzzing with excitement. As a former professional surfer, the call of the sea is something I can never resist, and this tour promised a unique blend of relaxation and adventure.

Our vessel for the day was a traditional longtail boat, a charming and quintessentially Thai mode of transport. As we cruised across the azure waters, the gentle breeze and rhythmic lapping of the waves set the perfect tone for the day. Our first stop was Koh Daeng, where the clear waters invited us to dive in and explore the vibrant coral reefs below. Our final destination was the main attraction, Hong Island. Known for its stunning beaches and lush mangrove forests, it was everything I had hoped for and more. We spent some time exploring the island, taking in the incredible rock formations and spotting wild birds and giant lizards along the way.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the 360° viewpoint. The climb was a bit of a workout, but the panoramic views of the Andaman Sea were worth every step. Standing there, with the wind in my hair and the vast ocean stretching out before me, I felt a profound connection to the world around me.

As the day came to a close and we made our way back to the pier, I reflected on the day’s adventures.
