Worth the effort. - If you never done hiking I recommend bring cash to rent horse to help with the climbing, the climbing is a work out but is worth the effort. Cesar is an excellent guide. I recommend this tour.

Great trip with wonderful company. - The driver was on time and friendly. They provided water and other sinks along with sandwiches, chips and banana. The food was fantastic. The drive was comfortable and the driver took the time to give us some history of the towns we passed through. It was a safe and educational trip going and returning. Our guide up the volcano, Cesar Peralta was fantastic. He was patient, kind and shared a lot of history and botanical facts as we climbed. The view at the top (not the true summit but the newer top spot due to the 2010 eruption) is truly a sight to behold.

Extraordinary Caravan Tour to Guatemala - Our 8-day trip with Caravan Tours couldn't have been nicer. Guatemala was even more beautiful than I expected. The people were very friendly and pleasant; it seemed like everyone we passed smiled at us. The three hotels we stayed in were all lovely and offered extraordinary meals with lots of good meats, sauces, and veggies and especially delicious fruits. (I couldn't help eating more of the fruit than I should have.) Our tour bus was first-class and included a restroom; the driver was unbelievably skilled and able to maneuver tight spots in little towns. Our tour guide, Jorge, was amazing; he had a wealth of information stored in his head and he was generous about sharing it in an interesting and humorous way--history of the country, architecture, Mayan history, political background, economic theories, archaeology, anything we asked him about. Moreover, he was very kind and made sure we were comfortable, safe, and entertained. Favorite locations included the Mayan ruins, Museum Ixchel (textiles, ceramics, stone), beautiful Lake Atitlan, town of Panojachel (Tenango), city of Antiqua and nearby coffee plantation and ancient Capucine convent; also the Bartolo, Atitlan, and Soleil Hotels. This was my first group tour, and I would take this tour again next week if I could!!

Amazing trip with the best tour guides - Marlon who drove us up to Pacaya and Dilan who was our tour guide really made the trip for us. Both were super friendly, good fun and knowledgeable. We were picked up on time and Marlon had food/snacks/drinks galore in the van for us. Dilan set a good pace and shared his knowledge of the volcano and surrounding area with us. The walk is a sustained climb through the woods until you reach the peak but there are plenty of rest points, you definitely need good shoes, longer socks than I took but we didn't feel that we needed a jacket/long trousers on (25 degree day on January) but we're used to winter in England! We would 100% recommend the tour and using the same company for any other tours in the area.

Enjoy the views - We had an awesome experience hiking and enjoying the views. Saul picked us up from the hotel on time. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. He was pleasant and drove safely. Cesar, our guide was excellent. He shared interesting information about the volcano, local customs, and traditions. We took rest stops as needed. He did not rush us. We had plenty of opportunities to take pictures and videos. Recommend good hiking shoes. The trail is mostly loose gravel and can get steep in some areas. We started early, around 8:30am- not many hikers yet. A memorable experience. Highly recommend Cesar and this tour company.

Good Tour - We left from Antigua and our driver was friendly and knowledgeable and stopped in a small village on the way for us to take pictures. He would have made additional stops as well upon request. The guide, Cesar, was very interesting and gave a wonderful look into the lives of Guatemalen people, as well as gave good information on the local flora, fauna and volcanos (recent and prior eruptions and lava flows). Great trip.

Pacaya is a must-do when in Antigua - Our driver was safe, knowledgeable and informative and made the drive enjoyable. He brought a variety of snacks and drinks for us to take on the hike and for afterwards. At Pacayo, our guide Cesar took us on an informative, educational, cultural and engaging journey to the recent lava flows above. He shared personal stories and made us feel like we participated in a true cultural exchange. It was cloudy at the top but we were blessed with no rain. This tour is a must-do and be sure to ask for guide Cesar.
