Great hike to the volcano! - We had a fantastic guided hike to Pacaya Volcano from Antigua with Voyageur Tours. Our guide was incredibly friendly and extremely knowledgeable—sharing the history of the volcano and pointing out vegetation along the trail. We never felt rushed, but it’s worth noting that while the hike is rated moderate, it’s definitely not easy. There are horses available for hire along part of the route if you find the climb too tough. The hike is about 3.7 miles round‑trip with roughly 1,300–1,600 feet of elevation gain and takes around 2–3 hours. The absolute highlight was pre‑booking a pizza through Pizza Pacaya on WhatsApp with the owner, David. Having a fresh pizza cooked for us in the lava rocks at the top was such a unique and memorable experience. Highly recommend!

A moderately challenging hike worth taking! - This was a pretty moderate hike due to the regular pockets of steepness and the altitude. The beginning of the hike was steep and uneven. Locals will follow tour groups with horses so there's always an option to ride one up if the hike becomes too strenuous. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and stopped regularly to give everyone a break. He answered all of our questions and pointed out plants and animals along the way. I had seen photos of the view but we did the morning hike on a rainy and cold day, and the view was completely obscured by fog. The winds were also wild! But in my opinion this all lended itself to a really unique experience and I would still recommend this experience.

Great time! - We had a great time on our tour! We opted for the morning tour and were surprised to find such a small group. For the price, I was expecting there to be a larger group. Once we arrived, we met our guide, Monkey, who was very experienced. He told us all about the plants and surrounding area. He also told us about the most recent eruptions. In the lava fields, we roasted marshmallows and rested for a bit. The steam vents are very cool. The hike itself was a challenge for some in our group. But, we stopped plenty of times on the way up for short breaks. There are horses that follow for the first bit, so you could ride one up if needed. Once you get about halfway up, they go back down, and the group did the last bit on their own. Overall, we would do this tour again. I would definitely recommend taking the morning tour with the smaller group.

The hike was a great... - The hike was a great experience, and our guide "el mono" was very nice and helpful. But the hike was very hard. I was glad they offer horse rides to assist you with your hike. I gave a 4 out 5 stars due to 2 things: 1) the site says they will pick you up at your hotel, but on the day of they sent a message about a meeting spot. Which is fine, but no where in the sites it says this can change due to traffic since their is traffic all the time in Antigua. 2) the guy that arrived with the transportation that calls out the names was very rude and obnoxious. He could be more clear in his communication and tone it down a bit. Which I had collected his name. But overall the hike was a memory of a lifetime!

Pacaya was pretty - The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, but if you want a slower pace I would recommend private tours, the guides go very fast and it is harder for non experienced hikers.

Early morning Pacaya Hike - We found the hike to be very good value. It was strenuous but that was what we signed up for. The guides were very good and the only minor criticism was that in one or two instances after a stop, they started out again rather abruptly. Reaching the summit of our climb was rewarding as it was a beautifully clear morning. Which made the spot stunningly beautiful.

In the end the driver fooled me - Problem the final that the driver left me about 500m from the hotel, saying it was "logo there". The rest is fine.
