Fun You Can Bring Home - Carmencita is a wonderful teacher, speaks great English, and did a great job of helping me to make a really cool item and having a blast doing it. The shop and museum are wonderful, but the carving experience is definitely the best part.

Fun experience in Antigua! - We had a terrific workshop with Carmencita and she was amazing with kids (both teenagers and a 5 year old!) the workshop was fun and educational (and not as easy as we thought) and kids loved their pieces. Great experience! Plan about two hours + a visit to the small museum on site. Highly recommended

Thank you for a unique souvenir! - I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Carmenita’s workshop and being able to cut and polish a piece of jade. Carmenita was so patient with me and spent time making sure I loved end result of my lapidary work. The workshop is in a beautiful building and if you’re wanting to purchase other jewelry, they have some me beautiful jade creations. As a part of the workshop I also enjoyed the tour of the Jade Museum.

SIGN UP ASAP- Especially if you want to go on your birthday! - My husband and I went here for my birthday. In the beginning, you get a 10 minute tour about Jade which was super interesting! Then, you go to the workshop to make your piece. There is a wide variety of options to make and it is well explained. Don't worry if you don't know spanish. They have staff that speaks English. Caesar was so kind and made the process easy easy! Because it was my birthday, Casa del Jade gave me a small birthday gift and I love it! I hope to return one day! If you're thinking of going, do it!!!

Fun and educational - Caesar was great! He took his time and was very detailed oriented. We enjoyed the entire process. Definitely would recommend.

Romancing the stone - We have been coming to Guatemala for 14 years and can honestly say this is our favorite tour we have ever taken. We were greeted by Carmencita who is an expert Jade Carver. We got to select our raw products and then we carved them into wonderful necklaces. This experience is not to be missed in our opinion, and a fantastic value. We will come again.

Good, not great - Upon arrival, we were greeted and quickly escorted to the museum part of the shop where we got a lot of interesting information about jade and it's uses in Guatemala, including the history behind more recent colors that have been extracted. After a brief wait, we went to the workshop where we met Carmen who was very high energy and bubbly! Everyone working at the museum and shop were very friendly and welcoming. However, we felt somewhat rushed through the selection process of our pieces and ultimately discovered that personalized carvings were not included in this experience. This felt different than the advertisement that caught our eye initially of the man personalizing his carved jade piece with a dremel. While you can request personalization, that is an additional fee and done outside of the workshop by a professional jade carver. While we worked, other groups began their workshop at alternate time intervals which made the experience in the small space somewhat chaotic, in addition to only having one guide for all of us. Nevertheless, we worked our way through the steps and ended up with two pieces we each really like. Overall, it was a good experience but we didn't feel it was what as advertised or quite what we expected.
