Palais des Festivals et des Congres of Cannes - Travel to Cannes for a photo opportunity in front of the Palais, home to the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival. (No visit possible, as the palace is closed to the public) The history of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes is intricately linked to the Film Festival. Initially, the first ceremonies were held in the old Cannes casino. The new building was inaugurated on 09/11/1949, initially known as Palais Croisette. It was replaced in 1983 by a new palace after a violent storm damaged the old one towards the end of the Festival. The new and final palace was constructed on the site of the old casino and opened in December 1982. It also hosts events such as the International Musical Publishing Market, MIPCOM, and the NRJ Music Awards.
