Highlights

Angkor Wat , Banteay Srei, Banteay Samre and Ta Promh temple

Banteay Samre - On the way back, we will visit Banteay Samre, built during the rule of King Suryarvaman II in the mid-twelfth century. Next we will see three temples of the tenth century, Eastern Mebon, Pre Rup and Prasat Kravan. The temple buildings are covered with gigantic tree roots, East Mebon temple (possibly originally located on an islet in East Baray, although it is currently on the mainland, with its five towers, this temple is in a good state of conservation), and the artificial lake Srah
Srang (used by royalty to perform ritual baths), etc.

Srah Srang - Lunch at local restaurant.

Angkor Wat - In the afternoon a very special moment awaits us, the jewel in the crown of the set of khemers temples of Angkor: the TEMPLE OF ANGKOR WAT, the largest religious monument in the world and the largest temple (almost 10 square kilometers) and best preserved of those that make up the settlement of Angkor. Its name means temple city. This temple has become the symbol of Cambodia, to the point of appearing on the flag, it is one of the most important archaeological treasures on the planet.
Since 1992 it has been part of the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It was founded by King Jayavarm VII in the late twelfth century and stands out for its grandeur and architectural beauty. It was originally dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, protector of creation. Its distribution is based on a mandala or sacred design of the Hindu cosmos.

Ta Prohm Temple - We will end the day today approaching the temple of Ta Prohm which means ancestor of Brahma, it is perhaps the most mysterious temple of all those of Angkor. It was built during the reign of Jayavarman VII and originally served as a Buddhist monastery.

Banteay Srei - After breakfast departure to the archaeological area of Angkor, where you will visit the Banteay Srei temple (967 AD), dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva, and famous for the friezes carved in red sandstone stone. “The temple of the lady”, “the tiny temple”, “the pink temple”; Banteay Srei bears numerous nicknames, a sign of the hallmark of this little gem, which feels so different from the imposing grandeur of the main Angkorian complex. The name Banteay Srei (or Banteay Srey) is modern, meaning “citadel of women” or “citadel of beauty”. People speculate that this is due to its miniature staircase, the pink color of the limestone, and the elaborate decorative carvings of many devatas (minor female divinities) that adorn its walls.
