Highlights
  • Chugach State Park - If you have always wanted to try snowshoeing but did not know where to begin, look no further. What is snowshoeing? Snowshoeing is an activity which allows you to travel easily through snow-packed terrain. We will start by taking you to the mountainous wonderland of Glen Alps in the Chugach mountains just to the east of Anchorage. After a quick introduction on how to use a snowshoe, we will begin by walking around the parking lot until you get comfortable using them; you will get the hang of balancing and adjusting your stance almost immediately.

After everyone feels comfortable walking in their shoes, we will set off on our path. Our circuit takes us approximately two miles through hemlock forests and snow-covered alpine meadows. We will have plenty of opportunity for taking photos of the magnificent valley. There is opportunity to see small mammals, birds, or perhaps even a moose!

Amazing Tour - a must do in Anchorage - I did the Beginner Snowshoeing hike and it was perfection!! Matt was the best guide who didn't even laugh when I fell over in the carpark!! He carried my camera for me, taking photos (see below) and passing it over when I needed it. We caught a glimpse of a moose which was pretty special. I come from Australia and was in awe of the mountains and so much snow. This also made me a complete amateur on snowshoes and Matt was very helpful and encouraging. Do yourself a favour and take this tour - or the advanced snowshoe adventure if you have the skills. It was an absolute highlight of my trip.

Beginner snowshoe hiking - Our tour guide Bryce was fantastic, so knowledgeable about Alaska, Anchorage and all the activities available. He also gave us some restaurant tips and other hiking spots. Our trip was a little overcast but Bryce made the best of it!

Refreshing and friendly adventure - It's a fruitful adventure. Not many people. Only four of us plus the guide trekking in the silence of great Nature. I enjoyed the total whiteness, the hovering mist between the divine-looking mountains. Bryce is a professional guide. He doesn't talk too much if not needed. He offered us a high-end binoculars to search for a fox (although I didn't see it :). He's patient with my questions and tried to accommodate every member's needs. I felt refreshed, relaxed and energized, only hoping to spend a little longer time with the mountains.
