Highlights
  • Anchorage - Bird to Gird Trail, Anchorage, AK 99540, USA

We will meet in the Bird Creek Campground and make adjustments to fit each bike rider’s size. Our tour begins right away as we embark on a 12-mile (one-way) asphalt trail to Girdwood.

Along the way, we will pull over in various photo-friendly spots and take in the scenic beauty. There is a chance of viewing wildlife including moose, bear, and sheep. Our turnaround spot is the Girdwood gas station at the intersection of the Seward and Alyeska highway.

Popular items here are Coast Pizza and the Ice Cream Shop. From here we bike back to the Bird Creek Campground. Depending on the tide schedule, there is a chance for a view of the bore tide, and shortly after that is usually when the Beluga Whales show up. The landscape can evolve a lot throughout the day with a 30-foot average tide change providing a stunning view from both directions.

  • Turnagain Arm Drive - We will Ebike through Avalanche runout zones and through the woods in the Turnagain Arm. The smooth asphalt trail makes this activity easy for most people to experience the amazing views of the ocean and surrounding 6.000 foot mountains.

Additional Information

Our tour runs on an asphalt bike path through the Chugach State Park with views of the Turnagain Arm and its 6,000 foot tall mountains. The area is known for its 40-foot tide changes and Tidal Bore waves that are unique to this area of Alaska, and are not commonly found elsewhere throughout the world.

We follow the same path as the Alaska Railroad through avalanche runout zones up to Bird Point, where we are able to cross underneath the highway for a chance to see beluga whales when the tide is right.

Afterwards we climb up a hill for more of a birds eye view of the water and quiet mountainside surroundings. Approaching Girdwood, we descend the hill and go through the Ghost Forest, so named for the trees that died in the 1964 earthquake.

Amazing tour of Turnagain Arm - Amazing way to see the Turnagain Arm! The bikes are in top notch condition. The owners are extremely knowledgeable of local trails and will point you in the direction of adventure. Great view and exercise with a stop at the Girdwood Brewery for a beer. I also put my 3 year old in a toddler pack and he loved the ride

Just do it! - We had a wonderful ride from Bird to Gird. The bikes were in tip top shape, charged up and ready to ride. The assist made it super easy in the headwind. As usual Girdwood Brewing was the destination for some beers and food.
