Additional Information

This is the most enduring aurora borealis photographic expedition in the vicinity of Anchorage. We collect you from your lodging in Anchorage and embark on a nighttime journey to experience the wonders of the Alaskan nocturnal heavens. It serves as an excellent choice for any tourists visiting Alaska from August until late April, catering to all from dedicated photographers to casual sightseers.

A daily update encompassing predictions of both the northern lights and meteorological conditions is maintained. Relying on these forecasts, the tour proceeds only if there’s a likelihood of witnessing the aurora. Although, since both the weather and the aurora borealis are unpredictable natural events, we cannot assure the sighting of the northern lights.

Your opportunity for a successful aurora viewing is amplified by allowing you to book multiple nights as per availability and settling payment merely 48 hours ahead, under the Reserve Now & Pay Later plan. If the northern lights remain elusive during your tour, we offer a complimentary rescheduled tour.

Amazing Northern Lights Experience - Came to Anchorage for a two day business trip and I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights. Most of the Anchorage based tour sites I tried wouldn't let me book as a solo traveler, so I was excited when I found this tour. I really appreciate that they tell you upfront what criteria they use to decide if the tour is going to go, and they don't take you out if there isn't a decent chance to see the northern lights. Our guide and driver, Colin, was informative, fun to chat with, and a safe driver. We got lucky and saw a spectacular light show. Most of us were not actual photographers, but we all got great pictures on our cell phones, and Colin made sure we got set up with the best views and took portraits of all of us in front of the lights.

most experienced & best tour guide with photography experience! - My friend and I had the best time!!!! ! Ben was really friendly and definitely knew what he was doing!!! Other companies were trying to follow us & see where our tour guide was going because they’re much more experienced with the area than other companies. The first time we went, the aurora wasn’t really visible due to cloud coverage (but we still got amazing pictures from the first time) so we were able to get rebooked a few days later and it was really cool! The lights were more visible & ben took amazing pictures for us! Ben showed us the differences with the Milky Way, shooting stars, satellites, etc. Definitely going to do this again next winter with my husband! It’s definitely a plus getting progressional pictures (for free) at the end of the tour too!

If you’re looking for northern lights in the Anchorage area - This is it - Booked the tour Thursday night, March 15. Evening had an estimated k index of 3.67 at around midnight to 3am. Luckily, clear skies and little interference with the moon. Tour guide, Ben, picked me up from my Airbnb. We went to three locations. The last location was where we had the best view. The lights were more of a haze, but Ben was patient and we got to see the lights very vividly. He is very experienced and knowledgeable. Without this tour, I would not have seen the lights in the Anchorage area. Additionally, hot drinks, hand warmers, and snacks were provided. Best of all were the professional portraits and landscapes that were included, and download link sent afterwards. Excellent tour. I would definitely do it again.

Private Tour, Great Experience! - We booked a private tour for just my wife and me. They communicated with us extensively with great information on how to prepare for a once-in-a lifetime experience. Starting 3 days out from the scheduled tour, they advised that the weather and aurora viewing conditions would not be ideal, so we agreed to reschedule the tour for several days later. The guide picked us up from a private residence, was on time and we headed out to the first location. He constantly checked the aurora conditions using a phone app and explained the key metrics to look for. I'm a serious amateur photographer, so I normally don't need advice on how to configure or use my camera gear (3 camera bodies, several lenses and supports). However, shooting the aurora is *very* different from what's 'normal' for me, so I gladly accepted the guide's assistance to get set up. It was also extremely cold and dark; both conditions I wasn't used to. We decided to move on from our initial location as the aurora conditions weren't ideal yet. The guide was glad to accommodate my desire to find a location with more interesting scenic elements, so we drove to another spot. By then, the aurora conditions were improving and we got some terrific images (about 3:00a). The conditions continued to improve and we got many great photos at several more scenic spots. By about 5:00a the whole sky was lit up and we could even see the aurora's corona. We continued to shoot until after 6:00a (moon rise was at 5:30a). We had so much success observing and photographing the aurora that we never got around to a campfire or eating; didn't miss either at all! I enthusiastically recommend this tour company and would hire them again if/when we make return to Alaska.

Viewing Locations Aren’t the Safest - The pros are that we did get to see the lights and were able to take some pretty amazing pictures. Our guide was also nice and did his job well. The cons are that none of the three locations we were taken felt safe. The first viewing location was on a frozen lake where people ice fish. We weren’t sure if the ice under us was compromised or not. The second location was an old bridge that was no longer in use and it was covered in a trail of ice. It also went over a river and had no railings. The third location was standing in the middle of the road and having to move when cars came down the road. All in all it would have been nice to just worry about the lights and not our safety while trying to get a good picture. If we had it to do over again we would have skipped this tour and taken our rental car out to view the lights ourselves. The value is just not here for what you get.

Disappointed in Anchorage - Well I wish I had a story to tell. Our excursion was cancelled due to weather visibility. Those are the chances you take I guess. We onlu had a short window of time to witness the aurora borealis. We travelled to Anchorage to provide free dental treatment to the underserved. We were hoping to get the chance to see it the night before we prepare for the 12 hour marathon on Saturday, that begins at 6:00am. We are more disappointed about the weather and not the group. Using the word terrible only expresses our disappointment and not our experience.
