Romantic boat ride with the best vegan cake - This was such a lovely birthday gift for my partner. It’s a beautiful boat. The tour guides were accommodating, fun, and great story tellers. They’re vegan friendly and the vegan cake they got us from a local bakery was absolutely amazing. We took the 10pm night tour and it was so nice to have the canals all to ourselves. I’d go again and I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for a beautiful, quiet, romantic evening.

Great Cruise; Highly Recommend - Easy communication and the boat was clean and in excellent condition. Mark, our captain, was great. Food was spectacular. You order while you are on the boat and then we stopped two times to have it brought to the boat by a local restaurant (Main/Dessert). Really great. Drinks (wine, beer and champange) are included. This is a must if you are in Amsterdam and want a quiet dinner cruise that is professionally operated. Excellent view of the canals. A+

Excellent private canal tour with vegan food options. - We arrived in Amsterdam, dropped our bags at the hotel and hurried to meet the boat, Undine, for a private 2 hour canal tour with dinner. Our tour lasted from 6:30 until about 9. We had a wonderful time and recommend this tour super highly. It would work for groups of 2-4 (5 might be possible, but a bit cramped). It is so much nicer and more personal than the big canal tour boats. Our guide Joost was an excellent host for the evening. He pulled up the boat right on time, helped us onboard and gave us some sparkling wine as a welcome drink. Joost explained some of the history of the boat and its current owners. We stayed in the main area near the pickup spot while we sorted out the dinner menus. We wanted vegan options so we went for a vegan sushi order, but there are also 2 other very nice Dutch restaurants to order from the menu. The way it works is that your group decides the food order and tells the guide, then the guide will phone the restaurant and arrange a pickup spot part way through the tour. Make sure to come hungry because the portions can be big. After that, the tour began in earnest and Joost guided us all around the central canals and the river Amstel. He talked about sailing history and ecological history in the area as well as the houseboats, various historic buildings and other sites. The tour doesn't focus on hitting any specific "sights" so to speak, just meandering and enjoying lovely canal views. You can also all sorts of questions and request the guide to go to any specific areas if you want - it's very easy going and flexible. The nice thing about the private guide - and what we really loved about Joost - is that you also get to hear personal stories and more details about life in the region and other parts of the Netherlands. Joost had many funny and interesting stories to tell as well as many stories from his personal travels and experience in watersports and sailing. This led naturally into conversation with us about our own travel stories and made the whole evening feel more like a big dinner party than a garden variety guided tour. At the end of the tour you settle up on the dinner bill and any additional charges for wine or drinks you order on the boat (they have a few bottles of red, white and sparkling wine, some soft drinks, water and beer). A few minor points to know before booking: this boat does not have a bathroom. Be sure to use the bathroom before your tour starts. At the end of the tour when we were dropped off, our guide pointed us to a hotel nearby with a bathroom we could use, but for a 2.5 hour tour with dinner and drinks, I could see if reaching a limit for some. Also, the pickup spot is a little out of the way from central Amsterdam. It is to the west of the main train station along a bit of a busy street with tram and bicycle crossing to watch out for. Once you reach a large Chinese restaurant (Sea Palace) there is a wooden dock area. The boat will pull up in that area at your starting time. The company website is also a bit minimalistic. You won't get a lot of official-looking confirmation emails like you would with a bigger tour and if you want to be extra careful or you are worried you could be late or something, you will want to email the booking address ahead of time to get a contact number you can use for last minute stuff. Initially we were a little skeptical of the website booking process because it felt so minimalistic, but it's a small business so just adjust expectations accordingly. We had no issues with payment processing or anything like that.
