Unavoidable - 20 Afterwards it’s still just as splendid. It was really great. For those who don't have a car. There are several buses that arrive there. Really to do from mid March to mid May

Excellent - Excellent day out with our tour guide Bram. His commentary along the way really made the trip. Also managed to avoid the crowds by going slightly off track which is an advantage of doing a small group tour. Would highly recommend. P.S Thanks Bram for not being annoyed when we arrived half an hour late after getting on the wrong ferry!

Must see Keukenhof - Keukenhof was the highlight of the day. 3 hours gave us plenty of time to see all the grounds had to offer. Seeing the flower fields was also great. The windmills of Zaanse Schans was unique and enjoyable. We could skipped Volendam though we enjoyed a beer and fries overlooking the water.

Mixed experience - Maximum 8 people which took to 3 stops. Some commentary while travelling but then dropped us off for 1.5 to 2.5 hours at stops. Unfortunately we had poor weather at Gardens (bitterly cold and raining). A little better communication at start of tour about how the day was going to be run would have helped and more flexibility about time at stops would have been good. We were at back of van and the driver did not have a microphone so it was a little difficult to hear.

We were disappointed that... - We were disappointed that we traveled in basically a taxi the driver gave us no commentary and just pointed out where to go once we arrived at the various locations, the driver was on his phone for most of the journey, it appeared that they had oversold the tour and we were an add in

Not what We expected - This was simply a taxi driver and tickets to Keukenhof. Keukenhof was spectacular (not to be missed!) and the driver was nice; however this wasn’t a tour with commentary. I wouldn’t recommend this particular tour to others.

Not as advertised! - With only one day in Amsterdam, we chose this small group activity because of all that was advertised. It was much more expensive than any other excursion, but we felt what it offered held a lot of value. Our main objectives were to visit Keukenof Gardens and the tulip fields. Everything else (cheese tasting, wooden shoemaking demonstration, fishing village visit) was to be a bonus. While we did have a nice 2.5 hour visit to Keukenof, the rest was disappointing. Our driver was nice and pleasant, but he was merely a driver from point a to point b. He gave absolutely no “live commentary.” We did drive by some tulip fields en route to Keukenof, but we didn’t stop for pictures or learn anything about tulips. We had no idea our short drive-by was all we were going to get! In addition, when we arrived at the different villages, we were given no background, no direction as to what we were to be doing. All we were told was when and where to meet. If that is all the trip is supposed to entail, it should be much less expensive and advertised appropriately. While we loved Keukenof and were safely transported around the countryside, we most certainly did not receive what we expected or paid for. By all means, VISIT Keukenof, but do it another way!

VERY DISAPPOINTING DAY - We were recently in Amsterdam for a visit arriving on May 14, and the last day of Keukenhof was May 15. After comparisons of various tours we chose the Keukenhof, Flower Fields, Volendam and Zaanse Schans Small-Group Tour sold by Viator and provided by Tour Company BV. We wanted to experience as much as we could and have a guide with a small group. This was to be the highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. Unfortunately, we now have concluded that we chose the wrong tour, for several reasons. • Our “tour guide” was a taxi driver. He was pleasant, but never attempted to provide services other than those of a taxi driver – he simply drove. We were not provided any information on where we were going, history or places on interest the entire day. • It was stated “Discover Keukenhof on your own leisure”. This was not true. Upon arrival in Keukenhof he informed us we would have two hours though the description of the day said we would be there for three hours. We repeatedly told him we were to be there three hours and he said we only needed two and return to the taxi. He also had given one of our tickets away and we had to wait an additional fifteen minutes for him to purchase another ticket. This was supposed to the highlight of our day – it was not – we had much less time that we should have had, were rushed, and had no opportunity to enjoy the gardens. • It was stated we would have two hours in Volendam – “explore Volendam and have some lunch. This is a great place to pick up souvenirs . . . have phots taken in traditional Dutch costume.” This was not true. Once again, we were not given the allotted time and only had time for lunch. We were unable to experience Volendam. • It was stated we would have “two hours, admission ticket free” in Zaanse Schans – “watch live demonstrations of craftsmen”. This was not true. We were told we would have one hour. At this point we told the driver we would be back in two hours to which he replied, no this is an 8 hour tour and we are going back to Amsterdam. We told him it was a 9 hour tour, to call his boss and we would return in 90 minutes. He told us he would drop us off because he did not want to pay for parking. Later we realized that he did not purchase tickets for us and we were unable to watch live demonstrations of craftsmen. We were denied entry into the exhibits because we did not have entry tickets. • Finally, it became obvious at the last stop that the guide was attempting to rush us, in order, to complete the tour in 8 hours. He confirmed that he did not even realize that the company had sold this tour as a 9-hour tour. He rushed through the entire day to meet his own arbitrary ending time, which was not even consistent with how his own company had sold the tour. That basic lack of attention to detail exemplifies our guide’s attitude in endeavoring to ensure that we all enjoyed his country. He was attempting to mold our day to meet his own schedule as opposed to enhancing the day to meet or exceed the expectations of his guests. There had been assorted options for this trip, including a bus ride to provide basic transportation to the same stops. Instead, we had specifically opted for the small private tour to get an enhanced experience. While we certainly enjoyed the beautiful experiences we happened to encounter while on this tour, unfortunately, those experiences on this tour were in-spite of the tour guide, not because of the tour guide. This tour (or at least this particular “tour guide”) did not enhance a small group experience as we had expected. Unless or until that attitude changes, you may as well take the bus at a 75% savings and skip the small group tour. We have used Viator on many excursions throughout our travels and always had wonderful experiences. We now are not sure if we can trust Viator descriptions. Our experience was extremely disappointing and not worth the cost we spent for the day .
