Additional Information

Embark on a journey through Amsterdam’s sobering World War II history. Once a refuge for many Jewish individuals in Europe, including the Frank family, Amsterdam holds stories of bravery and melancholy. The devastating demise of 74% of its Jewish population during the Holocaust paints a striking difference compared to other western European nations. Explore with us the causes behind this contradiction, while we delve into the agonizing experiences of Anne Frank, her family, and the Jewish citizens of Amsterdam. We aim to reflect upon pivotal events such as the February Strike and the Winter of Hunger to understand the emotions and happenings of the time better. Our trip concludes at the renowned Anne Frank House.

Anne Frank Tour - Many thanks to our guide Max for the informative and enriching tour. We particularly liked the fact that the tour was relaxed on the one hand, which made it easier to listen for a longer period of time, but on the other hand it was also very informative and many important and worth knowing facts were mentioned. In addition, the specific reference to the individual places was very interesting in order to better understand the events described. All in all, a nice addition to our trip to Amsterdam and definitely recommended.

Informative walk tour, would recommend - Very informative about such a sad period in history. Max was a great tour guide, telling us about the resistance as well as the story of the Frank family. He also told us a little of the history of Amsterdam and pointed out a few fascinating things to look out for in the city. Thank you!

I saw Amsterdam with fresh eyes after this trip- I enjoyed the remainder of my trip so much more after this tour! - Max was amazing! I had MANY MANY questions and he answered them all thoughtfully and never made me feel like I was asking too many questions or breaking the flow of his tour. He had the perfect mix of telling us the history without glamorising or sensationalising horrific events while also (where appropriate) making humorous stories and comments. He clearly loves what he does and Amsterdam and brings it into every word on this tour. This walking tour was also SO MUCH more information about Amsterdam's geography, architecture, culture, history, the cities origins, Dutch colonialism's mark on Amsterdam and quirks than just information about WWII and the Ann Frank (of which there is also plenty!). Highly highly recommend- I just wish I'd had time to do more tours with Max!

Interesting and engaging - Our tour guide (unfortunately I can’t remember his name) led us through a very interesting tour. He answered all of our questions and kept it very engaging despite the poor weather. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn some history about WW2 and the holocausts effects on Amsterdam.

THIS TOUR MADE IT ALL! (Not sad for missing the tickets to Anne Frank's house) - Max was really nice and funny, with notable knowledge and interest in the history and engaging everyone in the visit! It was raining a lot and he kept the group really amused by all the details he knows about the city and the jewish history. I went to the tour because Anne Frank's house was fully booked and I feel I ended up learning much more. Highly recommended!!

Breathtaking tour around Amsterdam - The tour showed the sad and serious part of the history in an appropriate entertaining way, thanks to the extraordinary, charismatic and handsome guide. Also the tour revealed perspectives and facts about Anne Frank and Amsterdam, which I’ve never thought to be true… So I highly recommend it, it’s a must do in Amsterdam!

Great experience 😊 - Max was very passionate about the subject. Although it is not a easy topic to talk about, he was very sensitive about it. It was also fun, listening to his jokes. 10/10 would recommend 😊
