Highlights
  • The Jordaan - Explore the Jordaan neighborhood, the old workers area, created in the 17th century, for the fast growth of the city. It quickly became home to boat constructors, sailors, bricklayers and many refugees from other European countries coming to Amsterdam. Jordaan was in those times a slum, but nowadays it is a dynamic lively artistic neighborhood.

  • Noordermarkt - Taste the best Apple pie at Cafe Hegeraad. This is a family owned brown cafe tucked away behind Jordaan’s beautiful Noorderkerk. They have been making their homemade apple pie for ages!

  • Haarlemmerstraat - Savor the best Herring of Amsterdam cut up in pieces and served with a a slice of pickle for an amazing combo!

  • Tweede Tuindwarsstraat - Sample a selection of the best cheese around at the beautiful JWO deli. A family run cheese shop with impressive decorations and intricate metalwork. But even more impressive is the huge selection of
artisanal Dutch cheese, Italian wine and French charcuterie!

  • Westerkerk - Visit Boca’s, a local cafe where we have not 1, not 2 but 3 different kinds of sausages!

  • Brouwersgracht - You can’t miss Swietie Sarang for a flavor of Indonesian and Surinamese food!

  • Anne Frank House - The tour ends close to the Anne Frank’s house.

  • Stadhouderskade - Step aboard a stunning vintage boat, cruise through the canals of Amsterdam, learn all about its fascinating history and indulge in the famous traditional bitterballen paired with a refreshing beer!

Perfect introduction to Amsterdam! - Wonderful introduction to Amsterdam and the scenery and culture that makes this beautiful place tick. Even in windy and often times rainy weather, our experience was more beautiful than we could have imagined. Our host, Gerard, was knowledgeable, funny, kind, intuitive, and welcoming. Being a tourist you never know how you will be viewed in another person’s city, and Gerard made us feel very welcomed. This was a perfect start to a new city. The food and locations for stops were a perfect mix of older (classic) Amsterdam eats (all delicious) and newer Amsterdam favorites. This was a perfect start to a new city.

All in all, an absolutely delightful experience, well worth our time and money . - This review may sound like redundant superlatives, because Katya was so very good at what she did. She was an excellent leader of our group. Her information and abilities present it was very pleasant and very thorough. She captured all of our attention, kept us busy, informed, and well fed. Her knowledge far exceeds what she was presenting on this tour, any questions that she was asked were answered very well for everyone to understand. That was just the eating part of the trip. The canal portion was on a beautiful wooden boat approximately 100 years old; now with electric power piloted beautifully by its Captain. We had more eating and local culture tour of the canals and their history. All in all, an absolutely delightful experience, well worth our time and money .

Amsterdam in April - Paul was our guide on our food & canal tour. The highlight was the hour long canal trip on a wonderful old traditional wooden boat - make sure you have your drinking boots on! Paul was very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. The food features mostly Dutch colonial styles so if you want typical Dutch food the look elsewhere. The four hours fly past and give you time to enjoy the company of the rest of your tour party. Just about value for money.
