Highlights
  • Tha Kha Floating Market - There a number of floating markets all throughout Thailand and Thaka is one of the more authentic, although English signs in the vendors boats are appearing advertising what they are selling. That said, a visit here is still a worthwhile experience. However, they still aim to sell more to locals, so the prices are really cheap. Have some of the amazing fried bananas or coconut ice cream with a variety of colourful toppings. Be prepared to barter for your purchases.

Additional Information

This full day Private tour with English speaking Guide takes you just beyond the hustle and bustle of Bangkok to see a charming, authentic floating market in Samut Songkhram province followed by Kanchanaburi’s World War II sites, most notably the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai, plus nearby Khmer temple ruins which date back many centuries.

Leave from your centrally located Bangkok hotel and travel out of the city, eventually passing coconut plantations to reach Thaka Floating Market.

Having explored this market, largely hidden away from western tourists, move to locations with a tragic past where you can reflect, namely the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery and JEATH War Museum, before catching a long-tail speedboat to eat near the town’s infamous bridge.

Walk across the Bridge over the River Kwai then a drive of approximately 30 minutes will take you to Prasat Singh Historical Park and its Khmer temple ruins of the 13th and 14th centuries.

  • Operates Saturday & Sundays only. Departure from your Bangkok hotel approximately 7.00am & Return approximately 6.30pm.
  • Thaka Floating Market is less well-known than its neighbours, Damnoen Saduak and Amphawa, resulting in cheaper prices and a more peaceful, authentic feeling
  • A ride in a paddle boat at the floating market is optional and payable on the day. Your local guide will be able to assist in booking one for you. Should this be required please inform the guide shortly after arrival so that this can be arranged within sufficient time
  • Should your travel plans change, do not worry! I Asia Thailand will do all possible to change your booking to fit with your new travel arrangements free.
