Wonderful 7 Night Nile Cruise Stay on The Sonesta sun Goddess, from Luxor to Aswan and back to Luxor again - 21st February - 28th February 2022 My Husband and I booked a 7 day Nile Cruise through Discover Egypt on "The Sonesta Sun Goddess" . We were NOT disappointed! The boat was definitely 5* luxury and we had a suite which was excellent. We had a private balcony, as well as patio doors in the lounge area, which opened up to fully enjoy the view of the Nile ALL the staff were brilliant and so considerate.... nothing was too much trouble. The food was of a very high standard, we had NO complaints what so ever, in fact if we could we would give them more stars. The variety of food was excellent and catered for all tastes Our Egyptologist/Tour Guide "Islam" was fantastic, in fact we would go as far as to say he was The No.1 Guide in all of the Nile Boat Trips. (having been 6 times before) In fact when meeting other guides throughout the stay, they all told us we were very lucky, as they themselves stated he was The No.1 Guide and they were very respective of him. From collection at the airport to transfer to the boat and throughout the stay (to visit the sites) everything was well organised and carefully planned by the company and Islam. We highly recommend this Nile Cruise to any one thinking of immersing themselves in the The Egypt experience

Less than ok... - We picked this package because it was supposed to be designed for a baby from 0 to 2 years old. We insisted for two months that we needed a baby cot in the room, called to a US number 3 days to double-check and sent many messages to a WhatsApp number (the only way to communicate with the local operator). At check-in, there was no baby cot neither a baby chair in the dining room, so except for 3 times that we tried to eat all together, one of us was taking care of our 8-month old baby in the room and the other by himself/herself at the dining room. Itinerary seems to be just for reference. Day 1 and Day 8 were put together in one afternoon, so Day 8 was insanely boring and long (having spent the whole Day 7 in the cruise). A comment in general, by no European/American standards what it is offered is a 5-star cruise. It would barely reach 2.5 stars. Also, the deck is full of ash as a result of the very poor maintenance of the diesel engine. The crew is friendly though. Reception staff is not there to help you (not even with an estimate for a taxi to the airport). Food is poor but a couple of days was ok (liver-BBQ should be labelled as such). Forget about smelling a nice, clean room and sleeping in a quite one... Finally, tour guides are ok, with the exception of Issam. He was a good one.
