Guests will be picked up from their hotel in Mandalay between 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm, depending on the sunset time, and then driven south to escape the city traffic. As the urban sprawl diminishes, the journey enters the dry zone, where residents maintain an agricultural lifestyle through ancient canal systems.
The bike ride begins with a leisurely journey through farmland and villages, where locals will be delighted to see visitors and greet them warmly. Along the route, there will be a stop at the hometown of Mayor U Bein, after whom the bridge is named. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to learn about a Muslim community that has resided in the area for the past two centuries. The ride continues through the shaded paths of the ancient capital of Ava, concluding at U Bein Bridge.
U Bein Bridge, stretching 1.2 km, was reportedly constructed by Mayor U Bein using salvaged teak wood left over from the relocation of the capital from Amarapura to Mandalay in 1859. Although the bridge has undergone repairs, the pillars remain the original wood. After enjoying the last light of the day, guests will be returned to their hotel in Mandalay, arriving by 7:30 pm.
