Enriching tour of the Alcazaba de Almería - We booked a guided tour of the Alcazaba at Ciritas turismo.
We were welcomed and guided, in Spanish, by Belén. This young guide was very interesting and made this visit captivating. We appreciated his investment and kindness.
We recommend!!!

Perfect visit - Velen is a fantastic guide you can talk about anything with her about the present about the past and the future. The Alcazaba of Almería is fabulous clean beautiful and fantastic views. We had two great hours there at a fantasy price. We love Viator and iits guides. Price quality great. We will certainly go back to Almería and visit the museum where Velen works. Thank you for the special time. Much love from Marnix and Werner

Up there with the best in Spain - This was well worth the visit and we enjoyed being able to walk around the site without the masses of crowds and people that we have endured at other sites around Spain. We visited in October, and the weather was lovely. I would have concerns visiting in summer with minimal shade on site.

Brilliant way to spend a couple of hours. - Amazing place. Absolutely beautiful. Lovely place to spend a couple of hours. We went when weather was cool not sure how it would be in the scorching sun, take water and comfy shoes as lots of walking up steps. Loos and a vending machine if needed. Great views and photo opportunities. A must if in almeria.

A Real Moorish/Spanish Town - Almeria is a nice walkable town. Still has Moorish Infuences.. after a visit to the Castle, stop by a great Moroccan meal down the hill.. many tapas places in old town area.. however, it's building up faster allover..

Beautiful view - The alcazaba is within walking distance of the old town. The climb is easy to handle. Admission is free for EU citizens.
The alcazaba is almost completely rebuilt and gives a good idea of how it used to be. But original walls are almost nonexistent. Unfortunately, there are hardly any shady places, so a climb in the morning or evening is recommended.
The view is beautiful so you get an overview of Almeria.
It enriches Almeria, but does not come close to the alhambra of Granada with its beautiful gardens and water features.

Alcazaba of Almeria - The Alcazaba of Almeria has a different and interesting history from the others I've seen; Our guide seemed to have a lot of knowledge of the facts but, really, there were a lot of people and, most of the time, we didn't even listen to what she was saying. In the large courtyards she waited for the group to gather and passed on the information, in the small spaces and on the route you either stayed glued to her to follow what she was saying or you lost much of the information. There were 15 of us, we had to have a microphone for the guide and headphones for the tourists. The group was for a guide in Spanish, this does not mean that they are all native Spanish speakers. I speak Spanish but I don't follow when people speak too quickly, so I think the guide has to speak at a less frenetic pace, so that ALL tourists understand what is being said.

To do, without being exceptional - Worth seeing if you're in Almeria, but very disappointing when you saw the Alhambra the day before. Lots of work in progress and limited visitation.

Sadly disappointed - It looked amazing from the bottom, but we couldn't find any access to the top. There was no signage anywhere, and google just kept taking us to the bottom part. There was a lot of litter around the surrounding area. I'm disappointed that we had such a frustrating experience.
