A Warm Welcome to Egypt

As a wildlife photographer with a deep love for Africa, I have always been drawn to the continent’s rich history and vibrant cultures. This year, I decided to take a break from my usual safaris and embark on a different kind of adventure: a day trip from Alexandria to Cairo to explore the iconic Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx. The moment I stepped off the ship in Alexandria, I was greeted by our guide, Abdullah, and our driver, who welcomed us with warm smiles and genuine kindness. Their hospitality set the tone for what would become an unforgettable journey.

The drive from Alexandria to Cairo was smooth and comfortable, thanks to the luxurious air-conditioned vehicle that was perfect for just the two of us. After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, we continued our journey to Saqqara, home to the world’s first stone building, the Step Pyramid of King Djoser. As a photographer, I was captivated by the intricate details of the pyramid and the surrounding mastabas. Abdullah’s insights into the architectural genius of Imhotep, the pyramid’s architect, were fascinating and left me in awe of ancient Egyptian innovation.

Abdullah also took us to explore essential oil shops and the papyrus institute, where we were provided with an Italian-speaking guide to enhance our experience. His thoughtful planning ensured that we avoided the more insistent street vendors, allowing us to shop for souvenirs in peace. Throughout the day, Abdullah and our driver were attentive to our needs, offering us water and snacks and ensuring our comfort at every turn.

This Cairo Adventure was more than just a tour; it was a personalized and memorable experience that allowed me to see Egypt through the eyes of a passionate and knowledgeable guide. Abdullah’s professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail made this adventure truly unforgettable, and I left with a deeper understanding and appreciation for Egypt’s rich history and culture.
