Located at the entrance of the eastern harbor on the eastern point of Pharos Island, it stands on the exact site of the renowned Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The lighthouse remained operational until the Arab conquest.

Alexandria Unknown Naval Soldier Memorial - Situated in the Mansheya area of Alexandria, this memorial was constructed by the Italian community as a tribute to Khedive Ismail for his significant contributions to Egypt’s development and urban renaissance during his reign from 1863 AD to 1879 AD. It also honors Egypt for hosting the last king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel III, after his abdication. The design resembles the Unknown Soldier memorial in Venice Square, Rome.
