Oman wadi and desert - The tour guide Khalfan was excellent all three days we spent in wadi, desert and Jebel Akhdar together, providing insightful information about Oman, and taking exceptional care of my visually impaired husband. We are very pleased with the tour and Khalfan.

Oman paradise for adventure seekers. - Our tour of Oman was absolutely incredible. Our guide was incredibly (Walid) very knowledgeable, sharing insight about Oman history and culture. A hugh thank you to Walid for making our trip to Oman special. The trip to Wadi Shan was one of the highlight, swimming through clear water to a hidden cave was an experience of a lifetime. We went to Nizwa, a beautiful town, we went to the souq and experienced the warm hospitality of Omani people. Then we stayed 2 nights at what I call a true magical experience up in the mountains. Our tour guide took us to the rugged mountains of jebel akhdar where we enjoyed incredible hikes and stunning views. Oman is a paradise for adventure seekers. Thank you to Walid in making a memorable trip.

An incredible experience with brilliant guides - We did a full 8 day tour of Oman with Sunshine Tours, and were incredibly happy. Our guides Amar and Khaled were knowledgeable, incredibly kind with our kids and attentive to our needs, and Oman is a fantastic destination, full of history and beauty. We would wholeheartedly recommend both visiting the country and using Sunshine Tours to do so.

5 Days in Oman - We were on a 5 day tour with Kahlil…over 600 miles in the SUV! He was very knowledgable about the terrains, historical & current irrigation systems, farming in all the municipalities, date trees and hand pollination of these trees and timing of pollination. He also explained a lot about the Islamic culture we didn’t know. Much history to learn about! We enjoyed meeting the Omanis…very courteous, kind and accepting of strangers. One suggestion for future travelers; if you wish to avoid overly touristed places, avoid the “Wadi’s”. Beautiful places, but overly touristed without concern for local customs.

Highly recommend - I had an excellent weeklong group trip with Sunshine Tours Oman, specifically with guides Ahmed, Yousef and Mosa. They were knowledgeable, fun, and genuinely cared that we had a great time. I would absolutely book another tour with them, and hope you do the same!

Best Tour Experience! - We had the best time with Ahmed, Mosa, and Yousef! They are a great! Always on time and generous - making sure we had plenty of water, karak tea, and dates! Each guide has a very unique personality and each compliments the others. Mosa kept us all laughing. They are so knowledgeable and made it a point to show us things as we went. It seems they truly enjoy showing off their country. Also, they made sure we were all safe every step of the way. We would love to go do it all again!

Days 3 & 4 - Desert camp to Jabal Akhbar & on from Nizwa to Jebel Shams - Day 3 of our 5 day tour with our wonderful guide Amer was also fabulous. We started early with an extra activity arranged by the desert camp - a camel ride into the dunes to see the sunrise which was just beautiful. We then set off towards the mountains stopping en route to see the Zukait tower tombs and then to explore the abandoned settlements and irrigation systems at Birman Al Mouz. We finished our day up in Jabal Akhdar in the Green Mountains where we had time to take in the vertiginous views over the mountain valleys and admire the terracing down the steep slopes (as well as the fossilised sea creatures at the top - incredible to imagine that what is now at 2000 meters was once under the sea). Amer also took us to see the views over the fruit trees growing in the next valley. The hotel was super comfortable. We had a sunset view over the valley from our room which was a plus. Glad we didn’t forget our sweaters though, despite the sun it was cool & a bit breezy in the evening! Today’s, day 4 of our tour was absolutely packed! After a skilful drive down the mountain in super low gear we spent time in Nizwa visiting the souk where Amer, our fantastic tour guide, took us to the best places for dates, spices and honey. We spent quite some time smelling and sampling the goods before deciding what to buy. Amer seems to know people everywhere and is very outgoing so combined with Omani natural hospitality, we got the best welcome wherever we went! We then went on to Nizwa Fort which is incredible. Amer accompanied us around the fort explaining its history and how the different rooms were used. Honestly we could have spent much longer in Nizwa but we had a full programme… Our second stop today, after a delicious lunch in a Yemeni restaurant, was in Alhambra. We went to a museum of traditional Omani life - Bait al Safah - and saw how food was prepared in the past as well as exploring the house. After that we went on to look around the very picturesque village of Misfat al Abriyyin (lots of steps!) before heading up into the mountains. We finished our day looking over and into the ”Grand Canyon” which is truly immense & spectacular!

Don't go during Ramadan ! - We were told we would be able to purchase alcoholic drinks ( during Ramadan) at hotels that cater to westerners. NOT SO. We could not go to ANY restaurants or coffee shops. We only ate at our hotels or in the car which was not pleasant. We would never have booked during Ramadan had we known. Our driver was good and informative and his english was excellent. We enjoyed everything we saw. But our experience was diminished and could easily have been avoided had we been told the truth. We could have at least brought something along to put in juice. Having a drink in the evening is part of a vacation for us and it was a rude awakening that this was not possible for the 5 days. We feel the travel agents were dishonest not to tell us in order to get our booking.
