Amazing! - Ahmed did an amazing job of showing me around Cairo. Not only did he have interesting facts about Cairo, but also had deep discussion about Cairo and the culture. It was an enlightening and educational experience. I recommend to all. ☺️

Learn about modern Cairo history! - Ahmed led us on a fantastic walking tour of part of Cairo. We rode the metro for one stop, walked across the bridge to Tahrir circle, ate at a koshary restaurant (delicious!), and had some fantastic ice cream. Ahmed knows his Cairo history and it was great hearing his stories about the Arab Spring. We talked non-stop for four hours! We needed help with getting water, getting cash from an ATM, and he helped us with the Uber driver back. I absolutely recommend this tour, and in general, Intrepid Travel (parent company)!

Great intro to Cairo city life - past & present - I also did this tour (different day) and absolutely loved it! It was such a great way to experience the heart of Cairo beyond the usual tourist spots. It was just the guide, Ahmed, and I, which made it feel really personal and relaxed. We chatted a lot about the city’s history and daily life, both past and present. There was lots of walking, but it was well balanced with food stops along the way to rest and enjoy some delicious local snacks. Was fascinating to see the change over the few hours, as the streets filled with people shopping and socialising before the main day off (Friday) of the week.

Nice walking tour - Nice experience to see Cairo from local presective. Our guide Michael was very responsive and thoughtful. Even you’re walk for 3.5 hours, he gives us a lot of food and treats in between so you won’t get hungry. We’re really like the koshary! Also, a little metro ride is nice additional experience for the kids😀

A good overview of downtown - Mariam was an excellent guide, with a very pleasant manner and good knowledge of Egyptian and Cairo history. The walk is an easy pace, and covers the key areas of downtown. It includes a metro ride and a meal of koshary - a local speciality.

Get in touch with the real life of Cairo's inhabitants - An engaging walk through downtown Cairo to discover the daily lives of its residents, their customs, and habits. A great way to gain insights into the social life of the Egyptian capital, accompanied by an expert local guide. On the day I took the tour, there were no other participants. So I had MOHSEN, a very friendly and expert guide from Intrepid/Urban Adventures, all to myself. After a short but thorough briefing on Cairo and a short chat tailored to my tastes, he took me around the city center to see firsthand and explain how the city's inhabitants live and spend their free time. For dinner, when I asked him if I could taste foods that he thought I had hardly had the chance to try during the 15 days of touring around the Egypt, he took me to eat grilled offal and giblets in a restaurant that in the evening, when the traffic is less, places its tables in the middle of the sidewalks and along the streets. Everything was delicious. Finally, we wrapped up the evening by strolling through the city center, which was very popular with young people at that hour, and enjoying an ice cream before returning to the tour's end point by subway, thus experiencing another aspect of daily life.

Best local guide and incredible knowledge. - Marwa was our local guide. Not only is she smart but a very lovely person also. The training she has done to be able to provide you with facts and local knowledge is 4 + years. She walked us through downtown Cairo stopping at pivotal points and explaining the history of them. The authentic meal we ate was so good, I could eat that again and again. Overall a highlight of our trip and we would thoroughly recommend this tour. 12th October 2025. We are from New Zealand.
