Amazing highlights of Akumal in a half-day tour - We booked a private tour with The Turtle Travel at the last minute when we realized that our original group tour wouldn't finish in time for our last day in the Riviera Maya area. The Turtle Travel was helpful and flexible with arranging the logistics of our trip, and the timing ended up being perfect for us. Our guide, David, was excellent -- knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, relaxed, and patient. Our whole family (kids and adults) liked him immediately, and we appreciated learning from him about the local ecology and geology. The tour itself was spectacular -- we got to see at least half a dozen sea turtles (along with remoras), a stingray, countless brilliantly colored fish (loros, luas, angels, and others), and the beautiful coastline of Akumal. We highly recommend the private tour for those who have less flexibility in timing, and we would definitely recommend The Turtle Travel and David to our friends and family.

Beautiful Day! - We had the best time! Some of our group of 10 had never snorkel and our guides were so kind and patient with the newbies. The bay we snorkeled in was lovely and it was quite surreal to swim amongst the sea turtles and sting rays.
The cenote was beautiful with pristine water. So much was seen below the surface. Overall a fantastic day!

Perfect day of play - Total highlight of our trip to Akumal. Fabian took us on a private tour to see the turtles and a cenote. My husband is recovering from a broken leg and still has to use a crutch... this tour was perfect for his abilities. We were able to take our time and make sure he was comfortable throughout the tour. The turtles were amazing, we saw many as well as other sealife. The cenote, although different than the one advertised, was the best part only because we've snorkeled with sea turtles before.... the cenote was new and exciting and totally worth every penny!!! Thanks for an amazing time!!

great experience - Great trip for our family of 5. We have 2 little girls and teenager and they accomodated us taking turns to snorkel so the little ones could stay on the beach . Luis was great guide. They picked us up smoothly and dropped off at our hotel in playa del carmen. we were out of the zone so it cost a bit more but they let us know and that was agreed upon

Experience of a Lifetime! - Akumal was a favorite part of my vacation. We had a private group tour guide,Rocco and another helper. They made the experience amazing! It was a first snorkeling experience for me so I was not in my comfort zone lol! But I wanted to see the turtles so much in their natural habitat!
I was most impressed with the rules they follow and the ultimate respect of the turtles. I love that the turtles are free in their natural habitat. We also saw several smaller stingrays,a few baricudas ,a
parrot fish and others I didnt identify!
We once went to a dolphin encounter at another park and it bothered me that the dolphins were not free because tourists were having this experience. In this instance the sea turtles are free. Very important.

Wonderful Authentic Experience - Our guide did such a great job explaining a lot of things about the area and about the areas we were able to snorkel. He did an amazing job teaching our 8 and 10 year old how to use the snorkel. And he was very thoughtful in how he showed us all the turtles and other sea life. This was our best experience on the trip we took to Cancun.

A day to remember! - My boyfriend and I booked the Sea Turtle Encounter and Yal-Ku lagoon snorkel experience, and it was amazing. We were hesitant as there weren't many reviews, but we are so glad we took the chance! Manny was so much fun, and so informative! You can tell he's so genuinely passionate about the experience he provides. He had so much great information about the turtles and sea life we saw. The lagoon was beautiful and we had so much fun snorkeling in it. He also had great recommendations for what to do in Akumal once we were done with the tour. I'm so happy we did this, it was a day to remember!
Manny provides snorkeling gear, and it's easiest to meet him at the Akumal Dive Shop. I recommend putting that in your GPS if you are driving from another area to Akumal.

Private tour in Akumal: turtle viewing and lagoon snorkeling - We booked a private tour in Akumal to see the turtle sanctuary and Yal-Ku Lagoon, taking a chance on this operator. We couldn't have been more happy. Our guide was Manny, a Akumal local, who took us snorkeling and guided us between the two areas of the tour. Manny did an awesome job showing us around and telling us the history of the place and explaining the local wildlife. Seriously the experience of having a private tour guide was so much better than what we saw at the beach: groups of 30 tourists all piling into the water at the same time. Do yourself a favor and book with this operator, even if you're not staying in Akumal, it's an incredible spot within easy reach of Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Bonus points to Manny for suggesting La Buena Vida, possibly the best beach bar we've ever visited.
