A Truly Unforgettable Adventure in the Atlas Mountains with the Great Berber People - WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! The journey began early in the morning, and the company did a great job of picking us up close to our stay (we could walk to the pick-up point in just 4 minutes). We were immediately greeted by the most knowledgeable and friendly guide, Omar, who made sure we felt at ease throughout the day. OMAR WAS HANDS DOWN THE BEST GUIDE I’VE EVER HAD! He broke down the day’s agenda for us after picking up the group and ensured we were all set for the adventure. (He spoke at least 3 languages!) We had such a fun mix of people from all over the world, and everyone connected, laughed, and opened up as we journeyed along together. Our first stop was riding camels! Omar gathered us in a circle, and he brought over some freshly brewed Moroccan tea. He explained the tradition of pouring tea really high, which means you're having a good time and truly like the people you're pouring for. (HE POURED REALLY HIGH! LOL) Afterward, we dressed in traditional ware for some fun photo ops before embarking on the camel ride! My only feedback here was that it was a short 20-minute ride, and the camels were tethered closely together, but it was still amazing to get a taste of riding. The crew did an excellent job capturing incredible photos and videos for us to enjoy later. Next, we hopped back into the van for a ride up to the Berber Village. We stopped for a scenic view to stretch, snap some breathtaking photos, and grabbed a small bottle of water to stay hydrated for the upcoming hike. We visited an original Berber-built home to use the restroom, have a traditional Moroccan breakfast/snack, and hear about the fascinating history of their homes and building rules (no square windows!? 😱). Then, we watched these talented Berber ladies hand-press argon seed oils and explain the process and its uses for health and consumption. It was amazing to see the effort that goes into something we often take for granted. You can buy their handmade beauty products (no pressure at all here), but trust me, they work wonders—I’ve been using them for a week now! The ladies sent us off with a traditional song, and we continued on to the next portion of our adventure. We drove deeper into the Atlas Mountains, and the views were constantly breathtaking—lush valleys, rugged peaks, and traditional Berber villages. The landscape felt like an immersive experience. We also visited a local village, where we learned more about Berber culture and their way of life. It was incredibly enriching to hear their stories, and their hospitality was so heartwarming. The lunch was homemade in one of the traditional homes, and it was absolutely delicious! Authentic Moroccan food, freshly prepared by a local family, made the experience feel even more intimate. We truly felt like we were “breaking bread” with strangers, connecting, and sharing a wonderful time. It gave us the energy we needed for the afternoon hike. With full bellies, we set off to hike the Atlas Mountains. Dress warmly (poncho or umbrella just in case—it can get cold!). The hike was mild, and the guides were accommodating for those who didn’t want to hike. Omar strolled us through the village, explaining how they live, their traditions, and how young people find their wives at the market (single ladies, take note 😉). The hike was breathtaking! You truly felt small yet significant in the vast beauty of the Atlas peaks. The positive and peaceful vibrations of the land swept over us, making us feel still, connected, and in awe of the landscape. Our destination was a secret waterfall, where you can purchase (not expensive at all) FRESH OJ, espresso, and other delightful drinks that showcased the freshness of the land. Great for photos and exploration! We hiked back down, paused for a moment, and then headed back to town. One final pit stop to use the restroom, and then Omar and his brother—our amazing driver and impromptu DJ—played some fun tunes for the ride back. We all sang along, celebrating the fun we’d had together on this unforgettable adventure. The entire day was thoughtfully planned, with plenty of time for exploration, photography, and connecting with people. Omar made sure to tailor the experience to our interests, and I couldn’t have asked for a better day in Morocco. If you’re considering this trip, don’t hesitate! It’s a must-do for anyone wanting to experience the beauty of Morocco in an authentic and unforgettable way. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. I can’t wait to return!
