Breathtaking desert adventure - We traveled to Morocco to experience the desert and see the south of the country. Our 3 day tour from Zagora Desert Travel more than exceeded our expectations. Everything was perfectly organized. We were picked up in Agadir by our guide Ali, who drove us over 1000 km over 3 days through the varied and breathtaking landscape. On the way we made various stops to get to know the country, people and culture, such as the Cooperative Souktana du Safran in Taliouine, a traditional carpet factory in Tazenakht and a traditional pottery in Tamegroute. All the people were friendly, informative and helpful. The local products are of course offered for sale, but there is no obligation to buy and if you don't want to buy anything, you can also leave a tip. In Zagora, before entering the desert, the Paradis: Our overnight stay in the Paradis Thoareg. A magical facility with great hosts and the most beautiful hotel room of our vacation. The most adventurous part of the tour was the approx. 50km long off-road drive to the desert camp to the dunes of Erg Chigagga. A real sandstorm came up, which alternately enveloped us in red, white or yellow sand mist. Our nomad guide Ali still found the way - without a navigation device or any other technical assistance - which was really amazing for us under these conditions!!! When we arrived at the camp, we were immediately greeted with tea and were able to move into our comfortable tent and have a delicious dinner. Luckily, the sandstorm subsided during the night, so we were able to experience the peace and magic of the sunrise on the backs of camels and admire the beautiful dune landscape. An absolute highlight of the tour!! After a wonderful breakfast, we drove another 60km off-road along a section of the old Paris-Dakar route and through the dry lake from Irqui to Foum Zguid. The landscape was varied and really impressive. Another absolute highlight that we hadn't expected at all. Highly recommended for desert fans and off-road lovers :-) Thanks to the persistently beautiful weather, we were even able to take a look at the snow-capped mountains of the Atlas Mountains on the drive back through the mountains to Agadir. A thousand thanks to the entire Zagora Desert Travel team, especially Ismael and Ali, who were always reliably approachable - online or in person. We felt we were well looked after at all times.
