Bale Mountains National Park - Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, the operator will drive directly to Bale Mountains. The journey begins early in the morning, traveling through the Rift Valley region. A stop will be made at Dinsho, the headquarters of Bale Mountains National Park. Here, visitors can easily spot the Mountain Nyala, Menelik’s Bushbuck, warthogs, and various birds such as the Abyssinian Catbird, Abyssinian Long-eared Owl, and White-backed Black Tit. Crossing the Sanetti Plateau offers a chance to see the endemic Ethiopian Wolf, followed by a drive to Harena Forest for an overnight stay at Wube Shablly Hotel.
Bale Mountain and Trekking
Bale Mountains - Today promises a day of stunning contrasts with breathtaking scenery and birdwatching. The day starts early, ascending the Bale Massif onto the Sanetti Plateau, which ranges from 3800m to 4377m above sea level. This area is a crucial Bird Area, home to seven globally threatened species and nearly all of Ethiopia’s Highland biome species. The main goal is to observe the plateau’s most famous resident, the Ethiopian or Simien Wolf, known as “the world’s rarest canid.” Watching these vividly colored animals, closely related to the European Timber Wolf, as they hunt Giant Mole-rats (another endemic species to the Sanetti Plateau), is one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife experiences. Excellent photographic opportunities are expected in this unique mountain paradise. Overnight stay at the same hotel.
