Setting Sail on a Milos Adventure

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to the harbor in Adamas, the salty breeze already whispering promises of a day filled with adventure. I had heard about the Milos Sailing Cruise from friends who had experienced it the previous year, and their tales of crystal-clear waters and hidden caves had me eager to set sail. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and the thought of exploring the lesser-known parts of Milos was too tempting to resist.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly faces of Captain Costa and Captain Tassos, our guides for the day. With only ten of us aboard, the atmosphere was intimate and relaxed, perfect for making new friends and sharing stories. As we set sail towards the west side of the island, the captains regaled us with fascinating tales of Milos’ history and geology, painting a vivid picture of the island’s rich past.

Diving into the Blue

Our first stop was Kalogries Beach, where the water was so clear it felt like swimming in liquid glass. As someone who has spent countless hours in the ocean, I can confidently say that the snorkeling here was some of the best I’ve ever experienced. The vibrant marine life and the gentle sway of the seaweed below made for a mesmerizing underwater ballet.

After our swim, we were treated to a delightful spread of cakes, cookies, and drinks, a perfect way to recharge before continuing our journey. The camaraderie among the group was infectious, and it wasn’t long before we were all laughing and sharing stories as if we had known each other for years.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly our stop at Kleftiko. The stunning blue waters and dramatic rock formations were a sight to behold, and exploring the caves felt like stepping into another world. Armed with an underwater camera, I captured some incredible shots of the vibrant coral and curious fish that call this place home. It was a reminder of why I fell in love with the ocean in the first place.

A Feast for the Senses

As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, we gathered back on the boat for a feast that was as delicious as it was unexpected. Captain Tassos had prepared a mouthwatering spread of freshly cooked pasta, Greek salad, and bread, with a special pesto dish for the vegetarians among us. Sharing a meal with new friends while anchored in such a breathtaking location was a moment I won’t soon forget.

With full bellies and happy hearts, we sailed back to Adamas, the setting sun casting a golden glow over the water. As we docked, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the incredible day we had shared. The combination of stunning scenery, warm hospitality, and the thrill of exploration had made this cruise a highlight of my time in Milos.
