The Egyptian Display is unmissable - We have been here before. This time we dropped in to have a look at the Egyptian display, on loan from a Dutch Museum. I had gleaned some knowledge from books, documentaries and movies. And I always wanted to visit Egypt. This was the next best thing. Thoroughly recommended. We didn't take a tour, and we didn't need to book. It may get busy in holidays.

An excellent tour. - An informative tour and an excellent museum. I think that I learnt more on the tour of the galleries we visited than I would have wandering alone. I would have happily spent longer listening to our guide and getting extra insight into the different sections.

Amazing and honoured experience - The whole experience was an honour, we did the whole tour, gained a lot more insight into the wars that our men and women endured. Stayed for the most moving part, which was the last post. This will stay with me forever.

Lots of interesting things that you might miss - Our guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out many small but interesting things that we would otherwise have missed as there is just so much information

Free museum but price of tour worth the intro - Got a great introduction to the museum. The museum itself is free but this helped us know how the galleries were laid out and the best way to see them when we wandered through on our own.

Excellent information and exhibits throughout - An excellent snapshot of everything quintessentially Australian. Phar Lap’s heart is still here. A full morning or afternoon of your itinerary. The free Canberra loop bus stops here.

Giving the people what they want - It is in the nature of such institutions that they seek to define a national identity. In reality, the nature of this identity is defined by the people who visit the Museum, who are impressed by artifacts such as Phar Lap's heart and the first Holden car to roll off the production line. No matter how much you seek to define Australia in terms of its indigenous origins, visitors will not pay attention if they are bored

Could be better - We took the museum tour and we learned a bit. But we thought they could make the layout and flow of the place better.

Waste of time - First of all, even though we booked, there was no tour guide ready for us. Trip Advisor it seems had not communicated with the museum. One was found while we waited. Secondly, there was an unbalanced over emphasis on "Welcome to Country." How many times do I have to be welcomed to the country that I and my parents were born in? There is more to Australia than the atrocities of the British to the Orginal people of this land.
