Explore Accra
Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park - The exploration of Accra begins shortly after breakfast. The itinerary includes visits to Independence Square, the National Museum, and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, the final resting place of Ghana’s first president.
W.E.B. DuBois Center - The tour continues with a visit to the W.E.B. DuBois Memorial Centre. This is where Dr. DuBois, an academic and civil rights leader, spent his last two years working on a Pan African encyclopedia at the invitation of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. A guided tour of his historical research library will be provided.
Makola Market - Following the tour, guests will visit Makola Market, the largest open market in Accra, where they can interact with women traders and shop for cloth and local items.
The tour will then proceed to the Art Centre, a large arts and crafts market featuring handicrafts from across Ghana and West Africa, offering an opportunity to practice bargaining skills. The group will return to the hotel before dark for relaxation and will experience the nightlife in the evening.
Depart Accra to Elmina
Assin Manso - The day begins with an early morning departure from the hotel in Accra, heading to the historically significant coastal community of Elmina, approximately a 4-hour drive.
Along the way, a stop will be made at the Assin Manso Slave Market, where slaves were once held. Located less than a hundred kilometers from the slave ship docks at Cape Coast and Elmina, this site includes the “Donko Nsuo” or Slave River, where captives took their last bath with African water.
A healing tour will be conducted to reconnect with ancestors. After the tour, guests will relax at the hotel and reflect on the day’s activities.
In the evening, an African drumming and dance performance by the Akomapa dance group will be enjoyed.
Renaming Ceremony
Elmina - The day includes a visit to a community in Elmina for a Naming Ceremony.
The Chief and elders of the community will welcome guests by pouring libation, a traditional greeting. Guests will receive a local Ghanaian name, becoming part of the community.
Elmina Castle - After the ceremony, the tour will visit Elmina and Cape Coast Slave Dungeon to see the historical slave dungeon and the “door of no return.”
Kakum National Park - The tour continues to Kakum National Park, which protects a rainforest area home to endangered mammals like forest elephants, bongo antelopes, and primates such as the Diana monkey.
The park is rich in butterflies and birds, including African grey parrots and hornbills. The Canopy Walkway, suspended 30 meters above the ground, offers treetop views of the forest.
The group will return to the hotel for rest and relaxation.
Depart Elmina to Kumasi (School Visit)
Adanwomase - After breakfast, the group will depart from the hotel and head to Kumasi, one of Ghana’s largest cities, approximately a 5-hour drive. A stop will be made at a local school for interactions with pupils, donation presentations, and class observations.
The tour will visit Adanwomase Kente Village, known for its colorful Ghanaian traditional fabric, Kente, worn on important occasions. Much of the Kente cloth found in Ghanaian markets originates from Kumasi.
A visit to a Cocoa Farm will provide a tour of one of Ghana’s oldest and finest cocoa farms, showcasing daily practices and rural life in Ghana, including local foods and unique cocoa products.
The group will check into the hotel for relaxation after a long and eventful day.
Kumasi City Tour
Manhyia Palace Museum - After breakfast, the day will be spent exploring the city, starting with a visit to the historical Manhyia Palace Museum, the seat of the Asantehene of Asanteman and his official residence.
Okomfo Anokye Sword Site - The tour will continue to the Cultural Centre and the Sword Monument of Okomfo Anokye, exploring modern art in a clean and comfortable museum setting.
Kejetia Market - Guests will have the chance to interact with women traders at the market and shop for cloth and local items, practicing their bargaining skills.
The group will return to the hotel before dark for relaxation and will experience Kumasi’s nightlife in the evening.
Depart Kumasi to Accra
Accra - After breakfast, the group will depart Kumasi for Accra.
Upon check-in, guests will have the rest of the day free to enjoy as they wish.
Akosombo
Odumase Krobo - The day begins with a departure shortly after breakfast to Akosombo, about a 2-hour drive. En route, a visit to Cedi Beads will showcase the recycling of glass bottles into beads.
Lunch will be followed by a Boat Cruise on the world’s largest man-made lake, offering views of Ghana’s hydro-electric Dam.
The group will return to Accra, aiming to reach the hotel before dark, and will experience the nightlife in the evening.
Beach Day/Last Dinner
Accra - The day will start with a later departure from the hotel to the beach, where the entire day will be spent relaxing. Horseback riding enthusiasts will have the opportunity to ride.
The last dinner in Ghana will be a time to reflect on the trip, with a dress code of African attire.
Last Day in Ghana
Kotoka International Airport - On the final day in Ghana, guests will enjoy rest and relaxation at the hotel.
A visit to Accra Mall for shopping will precede the departure to the airport.
