Witness market women balancing goods on their heads as they vend their wares. Following our market visit, we’ll head back to our bar and begin our cooking session. Here, you’ll understand how to ‘pound’ our staple dishes like Banku, Fufu, Jiji, or rice balls on an open fire. Subsequently, a stew or soup of your preference (diet-dependent) will be prepared. While cooking, savor an array of local spirits to give you a true taste of indigenous life, all while watching the hustle and bustle of the community and their interactions in our local Ga language. Cooking in Ghana, a personal experience - Everyone one involved was so helpful and very friendly. I think they went above and beyond to show us how to prepare a new dish.

Definitely do this - This cooking experience was a highlight of our trip. We booked this at the beginning of our trip, and ended up circling back to Accra and meeting back up with our friends from this experience. We made fufu, had drinks, and got a tour of the local neighborhood. We were introduced to Joseph, a local tailor who made incredible outfits for my girlfriend and I. If you're looking to get to know some locals, I'd consider this a must-do -- make your reservation.

Memorable Experience - Although it was not a full day class, it was still a great experience! The food was delicious. The class lasted about 2 hours, which was perfect for us. Also, very grateful that Linda was able to connect me with a local seamstress. Very nice lady!

Unique cooking experience makes for the best food in Ghana! - This was certainly one of the highlights of my trip! Forget the experience of making the food, the food itself was the best that I have had in the country by far. I made fufu with palm nut soup and it was absolutely amazing! So good, in fact, that I special ordered some jollof for dinner as takeaway and it was better than places I've tried like Chez Clarisse and Buka. Linda and DD were both pleasant and booking/scheduling was a breeze. I highly recommend the activity!

Shopping, cooking, eating, drinking and fellowship - What a great morning and afternoon with Linda and DD and locals from their community. They took me shopping in the local market, then to Linda’s bar for cooking. They thought me how to cook banku. We fried fish and made sauce. The meal was wonderful and the company even better. So interesting to talk and learn how these very kind people go through their everyday life.

Great experience - This tour brought us into a neighborhood not too far from airport area. The ladies assisting in cooking with us were kind and funny. We got to make Fufu and had it with a soup. The guide was very flexible and easy to communicate with.

Good, but different than described - I enjoyed the experience although it was different than listed in the itinerary. Be sure to ask for details and an address to find their town, as I had difficulty with that. I then met Linda and DD and went into their store. Linda had things prepared and I helped her to cut some vegetables. She showed me how to cook jollof. I then was able to enjoy a nice meal. They were generous in answering questions about Ghana food and culture. It was about 1.5 hours total.

Great experience - Learned a lot about Ghanaian cooking. Although there are many ways to cook okra fish stew, Doreen showed me the simple and easy way to prepare a tasty meal

Not what I had expected - The experience is not what I had expected. I expected to be more hands on involved and that wasn’t the case. The prepping of the ingredients were already done. I chose the the okra stew with banku. When it came to cooking banku, I did get to help a bit, but when it came to cooking the stew, the lady pretty much did everything- even the seasoning. Now it was time to eat, and I ate by myself while they were sitting there watching. It really wasn’t a comfortable or pleasant experience. I’m all for supporting people to help them earn money, but I too have to work for my money and I like it to be well spent. I do not recommend this experience..sorry.
