  • City of Aberdeen Distillery - Become a Distiller and create your very own Scottish Gin in this 3 hour experience! Starting with a double G&T welcome drink you’ll uncover Aberdeen’s rich distilling heritage and the origins of gin before going on to tour the restricted production areas to find out how Aberdeen Gins are made. Learn about the base gin botanicals and the premium organic alcohol. Following on from a short introduction to the botanicals available, choose from over 100 botanicals and distil your perfect bottle of gin using a beautiful copper alembic mini-still.

The group is led by the Head Distiller who is on hand to help you select the ideal botanicals and quantities for your unique gin recipe.

While you wait for your gin to distil, enjoy samples from the range of Aberdeen Gins. You’ll be introduced to the background of each gin as well as the ingredients used - find out how each gin is unique and how they are authentically distilled in Aberdeen. Sip a G&T made to order based on your preferred sample.

Finally, decide the strength, bottle, cap and label your own full sized 70cl bottle of gin - you’ll need a name for it too!

Under the guidance of the Chief Distiller, you will design and produce your own 70cl bottle of Scottish Gin.

With the use of high-quality organic alcohol and botanicals sourced globally, including the flavour-packed Macedonian Juniper, you will formulate a classic gin recipe. Then, you are free to select from a vast array of over 100 different botanicals to craft a one-of-a-kind gin, tailored by you.

Delve into Aberdeen’s concealed distilling history, follow the fascinating tale of gin’s origins, journey into the off-limit zones of the distillery, and observe the authentic distillation process of Aberdeen Gin in the city centre.

Savour drinks during the experience and taste a variety of truly artisanal small-batch gins – both London Dry and Fruit Gins.

In the end, decide on the strength of your gin and proceed to bottle it. Then comes the challenging part… giving your gin a name.

The event wraps up with a surprise cocktail to commemorate your new status as an Aberdeen Distiller!

Situated in the city centre, on Palmerston Road (a cobbled road), you can find Arch 10 near to the railway bridge and next door to Sweet Mumma's Kitchen. Arch 10 is at the opposite end of the arches to Breakout Games. Look for the number 10 sign above the entrance.

Gin Experience - We had an amazing time. We learned a great deal about gin from Allan and Don, and we even got to make our own gin from scratch with assistance from Allan and Don. They had over 100 botanicals from which to choose and the owners assisted with how flavors might mix. A great way to spend the day.

Such a fun afternoon! - Hands Down my husband and I had the best time. First of all the gin they make is amazing. I didn't know much about gin but I came out of the experience feeling like I know quite a bit! With the owners guidance they helped us make our own gin and it turned out awesome! Such a fun and unique experience by far the best thing we did in Aberdeen!

Gin Experience - The Gin School Experience from start to finish was more than expected. Firstly Dan and Alan greeted everyone as they came in. Dan made everyone a lovely gin and remembered I preferred lemonade to tonic when I visited earlier in May for the gin tasting. Alan then began his history lesson. It was so informative about how their venture started, Aberdeen distilleries from the past and much much more. The actual experience of making your own gin was so good from the start to the finishing product. If you stay in the city or shire or are a visitor to Aberdeen I would recommend the gin experience!

Excellent! Surpassed Expectations!! - We weren’t sure what to expect. The gin school and commercial distillery is housed in an old railway arch which has been stunningly converted while retaining original features. Upon arrival, we had a very warm welcome with a lovely gin while we waited for class participants to assemble. This was followed by a highly informative talk about the long history of distilling, the origins of gin and distilleries which used to be in Aberdeen. We then moved to the rear of the buildings where commercial distillation takes place to learn about the process. This was all really interesting and entertaining. Then to the fun part - making your own gin! With a choice of well over 100 botanicals, we each selected what we liked with expert guidance from Dan and Alan. While our stills worked their magic we were treated to more gin tastings before cutting the distillation and bottling our own 70cl bottle of gin. I highly recommend this as a couples, friends or even business team building event. Best fun in Aberdeen. Well done & thanks for s fabulous afternoon! Jon & Sue

Amazing experience - A fabulous and informative visit. Dan and Alan are brilliant and their knowledge and help to prepare our own gin was second to none. The amount of botanical available was amazing if not a bit confusing but the help given by both was amazing. Well worth the money.

MUST DO experience! - Start to finish an absolutely excellent experience!! Great knowledge and information from the guys. When it comes to making the gin they are excellent guides which help you make yourself a truly unique gin. My mum had her heart set on a particular flavour befoee going and they went above and beyond to make sure they had the ingredients. The building and facilities were also great and they keep the drinks flowing! Very rare to come across something that ticks all the boxes but this truly does. Thank you for the evening and giving us a wonderful experience!!
