• Pyramids of Giza - Begins at 8:00 am with a pickup from your hotel in Cairo or Giza by a tour guide to start your full-day tour of the Giza Pyramids. You’ll visit the Great Pyramids - Cheops, Chephren & Mykerinos, then proceed to the Valley Temple where the priests mummified King Chephren’s body. Here, you’ll also get an up-close view of The Sphinx, the legendary guardian with a lion’s body and the head of King Chephren.
• Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - The only completely preserved portrait of the king is a three-inch high ivory figurine found in a temple ruin at Abydos in 1903. All other reliefs and statues were discovered in fragments, and many of Khufu’s buildings are lost. Everything known about Khufu comes from inscriptions in his necropolis at Giza and later documents, such as the Westcar Papyrus from the 13th dynasty.
• Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple yielded several statues of Khafre, some found in a well in the temple floor by Mariette in 1860, and others during later excavations by Sieglin (1909–10), Junker, and Reisner.
• Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple. The mortuary temple also revealed several statues of Menkaure.
• Great Sphinx - The Sphinx, the legendary guardian with a lion’s body and the head of King Chephren, stands by the vast funeral complex.
• The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - Continue your tour to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, which showcases the largest and most valuable collection of Egyptian art in the world. It features over 250,000 genuine artifacts dating back 5000 years, including a special exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamun, with treasures, gold, and jewelry that were buried in his tomb for over 3,500 years before being discovered in the 1920s.
• Khan Al-Khalili - Visit the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, where numerous shops trade fine brassware, copper, perfumes, leather, silver, gold, antiques, and more. (1 hour spent)
