Highlights
  • 71 Noubar St - Join us on this tour if you’re looking for authentic, home-cooked and street Egyptian food in two different neighborhoods in Cairo.

The first area is West Elbalad, downtown Cairo where we will be meeting and kicking off with some national drinks.

A sense of home-cooked food prepared like Egyptian grandmothers used to cook everyday is so nice.

The second area is the iconic local Cairo where you can explore Cairo off the beaten path, experiencing the real lives of people, tuk-tuks, and the local markets.

A sandwich of taameya, like typical Cairenes use instead of falafel, and a plate of Koshary are authentic experiences among locals!

6+ stops will let your belly dance with the Egyptian food.

There is no waste food on our journey, so if you can’t finish your portion, you can take the leftovers or leave it simply to any person in need on the streets.

Can’t wait and YALLA BINA!

Friendly and Delicious! - Shorouk led me on a breakfast and coffee tour on my very first morning in Cairo and I can't recommend it more! The food was delicious and I loved hearing about food customs, the neighborhood as well as her life and family. She was so helpful and kind and interesting to listen to her intimate knowledge of the neigborhood and foods. I feel like I now have a good friend on the other side of the world.

The best way to see the real Cairo - Super recommended because it allows you to delve into the daily life of the people of Cairo. The attention and details that Ahmed shared with us made this tour one of the best experiences on our trip.

You have to book this! - This was such a great experience. Even though I was the only one on the tour and it was the day before Ramadan, they were still happy to accommodate me. We went to so many places that I think I was full for two days after. And we even gave leftovers to a needy family on the street so it didn’t feel wasteful or like I needed to eat everything. It was great to learn more about Egyptian life, go to places I never would have discovered on my own, and of course have great food. I love markets so I especially loved strolling through a local food market at the end. Ahmed even got me a little Ramadan lantern as a gift and offered to help with any questions or assistance I might need on my trip. You can really see he and his wife love what they do and they just seem like really warm, welcoming people. A great way to experience a different side of Egyptian culture. Highly recommend.

Stop thinking about it, book it! - Ahmed (Shorouk's husband) is literally my new favorite Egyptian! His knowledge of not only Egyptian food history, but Egypt's history overall, is phenomenal!! Apart from that, Ahmed went above and beyond to show me his very own local version of Egypt, through super local restaurants and sweets shops, which was way better than what I ever expected. After this tour (and many other experiences that they offer through Airbnb as well), you would've made a friend for life, as his generosity and love of sharing his history and culture is impressive! Thank you Ahmed and Shorouk for making my short (but sweet) Cairo experience so much better!!!
