- Jacamar Naturalist Tours - This combo combines two extreme adventures into one thrilling tour. We will start with a challenging ATV ride through a private farm with amazing views of the Arenal Volcano, followed by the opportunity to float over turbulence rapids on a tropical river. After some safety instructions and a driving test, we will begin our ride on modern ATVs through mountainous terrain and prairies for approximately 28 km (17 miles) while taking in the breathtaking views of the Arenal Volcano and the volcanic mountain range. After a little rest and a great lunch, our bus driver will take us for about an hour through rural areas, plantations, and towns to reach the river. Once we get there, we equip you with a life jacket, helmet, and paddle as well as safety instructions. The 11 km (7 mile) section of the river has more than 30 rapids, big waves, and a variety of challenging obstacles. No one will walk away dry! Surfing the waves, 360° turns, and maximum adrenaline is all part of this thrilling adventure.

This was a fabulous day... - This was a fabulous day of adventure! Erick, our guide on the ATV tour was a lot of fun! We traveled through more water and mud than I had expected, but that added to the experience. Erick was patient with us and made us feel comfortable on the ATVs. White water rafting was equally great! Pablo (x2), our guides on the water were awesome. Additionally, the lunch exceeded expectations. It was an amazing meal at a beautiful open air restaurant. We experienced a thunderstorm while there. Overall, this was an amazing day! We were tired in the best way.

Action Packed Adventure! - I did this tour with my husband and 17 year old son. From the moment Pablo picked us up it was a 5+ star adventure. We had the most amazing time! My son loved four wheeling through the mud and rivers. Erick was a fantastic tour guide and so knowledgeable about the area. We four wheeled, saw howler monkeys, took a dip in the river and continued four wheeling. Afterward Minor picked us up and drove us to our rafting adventure. Minor was great, he provided us with cold waters, snacks and towels. There Adrian and Jeffery took us on a thrilling ride down the river. We encountered many class 2-3 rapids. We also saw many birds and howler monkeys, that Adrian and Jeffery pointed out along the way. Midway through we ate some tasty watermelon and pineapple. After the journey we ended with a delicious typical Costa Rican lunch with a gorgeous view of the river. I highly recommend this tour! Thank you to our tour guides, Pablo, Erick, Minor, Adrian, and Jeffery!

Would book again! - Absolutely amazing day. Loved my guides for both the ATV (Manuel) and rafting (Pablo). The lunch was delicious, the execution was perfect and I really appreciated the professionalism.

Action packed day! - What an incredible experience! This was the perfect combination of adventure and natural beauty. Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or someone who just loves the outdoors, this is an unforgettable way to explore the countryside.
Our guides were fantastic—attentive to safety while making sure we had an absolute blast. On the ATV excursion, our guide even captured some great moments for us using my phone, which was a nice touch.
For the white water rafting, bringing our own phones wasn’t recommended, but that wasn’t a problem. Christian, one of the guides, was not only a skilled kayaker and rafter but also an amazing photographer. He made sure we had great shots to remember the experience!
To top it all off, the lunch afterward was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this adventure!

Such a fun and wild ride! - My husband, two adult sons and I rafted what should have been a class 2/3 the day after a three day tropical storm. The ride was really a 3/4 because the water was so high and very wild. I was nervous to go but our guide, and all the guides in the other boats, prepped us well for each rapid, and protected us through the rough waters. After surviving each wild rapid, we laughed very hard and were exhilarated. The river was running so fast that we completed the journey in half the time allotted but When the trip was over we were so glad we went. There were smaller kids in other boats, and, as a mom, I wouldn’t recommend taking them in case the boats flips - there are many large boulders throughout. The crew had taken photographs along the whole journey with a professional camera and sent the link to each party after the journey was through. We have some amazing pic to print.

The best of the best! - Pablo was the best guide we could have asked for! On our ride to the river he told us so much information and history of Costa Rica, he had the van pull over so we could watch howler monkeys cross the hanging bridge and even bought us rambutans. 10000/10 experience and we will for sure be back!

So much fun - Booked this whitewater tour last minute and it was awesome! Our guide was Jilbain. He was funny and was friendly. My husband and I had a so much fun. We did level 2 & 3 rapids. The Sarapiqui River is beautiful!! We will definitely book again on our next trip.

Exhilarating Fun! - This was an amazing excursion! Our guide did a wonderful job helping us navigate white water rafting for the first time. He took us to spots where we could get out of the raft to swim and even jump off a cliffed area into the water. The pictures they took were incredible but was best for the people in front of the raft. So I'd recommend switching seats when possible so everyone can get good shots. The fresh fruits and provided lunch was also delicious. I'd highly recommend this excursion.

Rafting Spectacular! ATV’ing Not So Much. - PROS:
The rafting portion of this was absolutely fantastic! Our shuttle driver (Javier) was so fun and taught us a lot about the Costa Rican landscape, culture and economy as we drove the ~45 mins from ATV’ing to the raft put-in. James, our raft guide, was awesome! Friendly, a lot of fun, very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. Our kids (7 & 11) had a blast on this trip! James’ colleague taking pics from a kayak was great as well… scoping out wildlife for us and engaging with the kids. This was the best part of our 7 day Costa Rican vacation.
The included lunch was surprisingly outstanding. Delicious local food, very clean and cute restaurant facility next to the river, and clean and private shower/bathroom/changing facilities (at pull out, none at put in).
CONS: The ATV tour was somewhat blah… no engagement from the “guides” and we drove mostly on roads accessible by normal cars. The views were gorgeous, but we could have achieved the same by just driving ourselves in the car. We liked the cultural stop (though the items for sale were wildly overpriced), and the ATVs were fun, but overall probably not worth the price of the tour.

Disappointed - When we arrived to do the tour they told us about the age restriction for driving the ATVs. There was no indication while booking the tour that the riders had to be 19. So when doubling the price should have gone down but the would not adjust for the cost difference. The ATV part was nice but not adventurous enough and the rapids were quite light.
