NICE EXPERIENCE - With a lot of love in my head I watched a lot of pictures and videos of Iceland in the social media and was very eager to book a spring break Troll trip in March without thinking about what kind of people I'd meet and what kind of fantastical experiences I'd experience, maybe good, maybe a little sadness, but it was the passion that kept pushing me to do it, yes, me, a very random and 100% action oriented J+P person, Who knows? Until i met our team, we spend 6 days together ,Great team we are, we're from all over the world, but get along and feel like it's going by way too fast! So much so that I will feel sad to say goodbye to everyone, which is more than I could have foreseen. A big thank you to Thor, our team guider, for being so responsible and humorous, and for making our first time in Iceland a unique Looking forward to next visit to Iceland, maybe to experience a different kind of season.

Perfect Trip - The trip was amazing!! Our guide Erla is very nice. I enjoyed the whole time I was in the tour. We were very lucky during the tour and managed to get almost everything Iceland’s Ring Road tour had to offer in winter. Our guide always helped us to get to experience as much as possible and also taking care of our comfort all the time. She is also very informative about each place too! Not to mention the jokes and funny conversations we shared with her during meals and on the bus with our group members. Thank you for the great tour Erla!!

6 day ring road winter - amazing! - I took my 16 yo. son for a mother and son adventure. We did the 6 day ring road winter trip and really enjoyed everything we did. Our guide, Heiðrún Hauksdóttir, was really great and taught us so much along the way. The road conditions were not great at times but we felt safe and well taken care of by Heiðrún. Highlights for us were the glacier hike, ice caving, horseback riding to experience the 5th gait, the Vok baths where we did the polar bear plunge, whale watching, and many waterfalls. We will treasure our memories forever.

Great Iceland Experience !!! - We took the 6 day tour around Iceland and it was amazing, the trip of a lifetime. We were impressed by the amount of things we saw and how smooth everything was, the hotels were nice and check in for a family of 5 was easy. Our Tour guide Thor really made the trip. Thor gave us a great local insight into the country and its sights. He also ensured everything went smooth day to day and we got to all of our excursions on time. He also made sure we always had places to go for food, and stops for bathrooms :) We took this trip to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and Thor really made it special !

Excellent excursion - This tour was excellent from beginning to end. Our tour guide (Jóhann!) was knowledgeable, friendly and made the experience a delight. We took our two teens and everyone had a blast. There was something stunning to see every time we turned a corner. Jóhann let us know the itinerary daily, how long each stop would be, when the bathroom stops were, and how many layers of clothes we should be wearing. This was an experience of a lifetime.

Tröll Expeditions 6 Day Ring Tour - BOOK THIS NOW - Read Why Here! - If you are going to spend one glorious week in Iceland, spend it with Tröll Expeditions and take this trip! My daughter and I cannot imagine a better trip or all around experience. While the sights and sounds of Iceland "sell themselves" with their beauty and the awe they inspire, taking the right trip with the right guide makes all the difference. Not only did we have an amazing tour group of just the nicest people who were friendly, helpful and supportive when the going sometimes got rough (says the klutzy one!), we were led by Jóhann Kári who we certainly count as a dear friend who gave us an insider's look into Iceland and answered what I'm sure were dozens of questions I had about language, culture, history - you name it, Jóhann was a pure pleasure and we looked forward to each day with excitement and interest. The question here is what did we NOT see! My personal list of the highlights of the tour: - Thingvellir National Park, which is where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet and are drifting apart 2 or so centimeters a year, creating a unique geological environment. - The Haukadalur Geothermal Area where we got to see how the heat of the earth is used to bake bread in cast iron pots and see the earth actually boiling - Hot Spring Strokkur, which erupts every five to ten minutes. This area has the dormant but famous Great Geysir - the geyser that has named all geysers in the world. - Gullfoss Waterfall is a double waterfall that cascades down into a deep canyon. The waterfall is 32 meters (105 feet) high and has a width of about 20 meters (65 feet). We saw many waterfalls on this trip but this one was our favorite (there's our vote Jóhann!) - Glacier hike on Sólheimajökull! We made it up a glacier complete with harness, crampons and ice axes and lived to tell the tale! The most arduous but rewarding part of the trip - Skógafoss Waterfall, a powerful waterfall with a width of 25 meters and a height of 60 meters. The area has been inhabited since the 9th century, and the waterfall is considered a sacred site for the Vikings. Our third favorite waterfall - Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach located along the southern coast of Iceland. Folks will recognize where scenes from Game of Thrones and Vikings were filmed on this beach - Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where you can see large icebergs drift calmly towards the ocean that formed in 1933 when Breiðamerkurjökull glacier began to retreat. This glacier is part of the Vatnajökull glacier, Europe’s largest glacier that covers 8% of Iceland. - Diamond Beach where remnants of the icebergs wash up - Crystal Blue Ice Cave located in the Vatnajökull National Park, the cave is formed by glacier melting and is filled with stunning blue ice which is blue because of the density and how light is absorbed - Riding Icelandic horses. They are the only horse breed in the world with five gaits, including the ''tölt'', a four-beat lateral ambling gait. This gait is unique and is not found in any other horse breed worldwide. - Vök Geothermal baths and polar bear plunge into a freezing lake - don't knock it until you try it, alternating the hot baths with the ice plunge is exhilirating! - Námafjall Hverir geothermal area - Goðafoss - waterfall of the gods. Not as big as Niagara of course but the shape is reminiscent - our second favorite waterfall - Akureyri, the Capital of the North - Whale watching in the fjord off of Akureyri, where we were rewarded with close up views of two humpback whales, one so close I could see its body underneath the boat - And for a grand finale, about 30 minutes after we arrived at our hotel across from the Hallgrímskirkja church the volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula near the town of Grindavik erupted for the 4th time in 3 months around 830PM local time. We also spent some time seeing the beautiful sites in Reykjavík and if we'd had more time I would have loved to have spent two more whole days there rather than just the day and a half we had. A great reason to go back. This should be your motivation to BOOK THIS TOUR now and ask for our good friend Jóhann Kári to be your guide and let the Tröll Expeditions team take care of every detail and make you feel special and let you focus on your vacation. Dream team and dream destination! And to Jóhann - alright, alright. Come see us in Florida, Utah or Hawaii anytime!
