Aswan Governorate - Upon your arrival in Aswan, a representative from Pharaohn Tours will meet you at your hotel, Aswan airport, or railway station. From there, you will be transferred to your 5-star Nile cruise, where you will enjoy lunch on board. Afterward, you will visit the High Dam and Philae Temple before returning to the cruise for dinner and a folkloric show. You will spend the night in Aswan. Please note that if your arrival or pick-up time is early, we recommend starting the tour immediately upon arrival to avoid wasting time waiting for the cruise check-in time at 12:00 PM and to avoid the heat.
Aswan High Dam - Begin your day tour with a visit to the impressive High Dam, constructed in 1960 to protect Egypt from flooding and generate electricity. This feat of engineering is truly overwhelming, with a length of 3600 meters, a base thickness of 980 meters, and a height of 111 meters at its highest point. The world’s largest man-made lake, Lake Nasser, is held back by this dam, providing irrigation water and electricity for all of Egypt. Afterward, travel 13 kilometers south of Aswan to visit the beautiful Philae Temple.
Temple of Philae - Travel to the picturesque Philae Temple, a Greco-Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Isis. Access the temple via a small motorboat, as it sits on Agilika Island just south of the old Aswan Dam. The temple complex was relocated to its current location after the construction of the High Dam threatened to submerge it permanently. Careful reconstruction preserved the original appearance and layout of the complex, including landscaping the island to match its former location. During the Ptolemaic Dynasty, Philae was the center of the cult of the goddess Isis and was one of the last remaining places where the ancient religion survived after the arrival of Christianity in Egypt, only closing in 551 AD. The main temple on the island was later used as a church by early Christians. After your visit, return to your Nile cruise for an overnight stay in Aswan.
