Arrive To Aswan - Nile Cruise And Aswan Day Tour

Aswan Governorate - A Let’s Discover Egypt representative will meet you at your hotel in Aswan, Aswan airport, or the railway station. You’ll then be transferred to board your 5-star Nile cruise before lunch. Enjoy lunch on board, followed by visits to the High Dam and Philae Temple. Dinner will be served on board, followed by a folkloric show. Overnight stay in Aswan. Meals: Lunch, Dinner. Note: If you arrive in Aswan early (recommended), we will start the tour immediately upon arrival to avoid waiting for the cruise check-in at 12:00 PM and to dodge the afternoon heat.

Aswan High Dam - Begin your day tour with a visit to the High Dam, completed in 1960 to protect Egypt from flooding and generate electricity. The Aswan High Dam is an impressive sight, measuring 3600 meters in length, 980 meters thick at the base, and 111 meters tall at its highest point. Behind it lies Lake Nasser, the world’s largest man-made lake, providing irrigation water and electricity for all of Egypt. Located 13 km south of Aswan, you’ll then drive to visit Philae Temple.

Temple of Philae - Continue to Philae Temple, a Greco-Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Isis, accessible by a small motorboat. This picturesque temple complex is located on Aglika Island, just south of the old Aswan Dam. The temple was relocated to its current site after the construction of the High Dam threatened to submerge it. The reconstruction preserved the original appearance and layout, even landscaping the island to match its former location. Philae rose to prominence during the Ptolemaic Dynasty as the center of the cult of Isis. It was one of the last places where the ancient religion survived after Christianity arrived in Egypt, officially closing in 551 AD. Early Christians then used the main temple as a church. Return to your Nile cruise and overnight in Aswan.

Abu Simbel Temple & Kom Ombo Temple.

Abu Simbel Temple Complex - At around 4:30 AM, you’ll be picked up to visit the Abu Simbel Temple (in a small group), one of Egypt’s most impressive sites. The rock-cut temples of Abu Simbel, built for King Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari, are masterpieces of ancient Egypt. The Egyptian government and UNESCO collaborated to save these temples from flooding. The Temple of Ramesses II was dedicated to the gods Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and Ramesses II himself. The great Abu Simbel temple is also known as The Sun Temple of Ramesses II. The Temple of Queen Nefertari is also called the Temple of Hathor, symbolically representing the wife of the god Horus. Return to the cruise by noon. Enjoy lunch on board and prepare for the cruise to navigate to Kom Ombo city in the afternoon.

Temple of Kom Ombo - After approximately 3 hours of sailing to Kom Ombo city, enjoy tea time on the sundeck. Upon arrival, visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the god Horus the Elder. Built in 180 B.C. by the Ptolemaic dynasty during the Roman invasion, the temple is uniquely situated on the riverbank between Edfu and Aswan, making it a popular stop for Nile cruises. Sail to Edfu, have dinner on board, and enjoy a Galabeya Party. Overnight in Edfu town.

Edfu Temple & Luxor East Bank

Temple of Horus - After breakfast on board, visit Edfu Temple, the best-preserved temple in Egypt, dedicated to the hawk-god Horus. The Ptolemaic temple of Horus, founded on the site of an earlier temple, dates back to the reign of Ptolemy III (237 B.C.). The walls depict the myth of the contention between Horus and Seth, likely performed annually as a religious drama. Return to the cruise, relax on the sundeck, and admire the beautiful scenery of the Nile River while sailing to Luxor. Cross Esna Lock, have lunch on board, and enjoy afternoon tea on the sundeck.

Temple of Karnak - Arrive in Luxor by late afternoon and visit Karnak Temples, a spectacular complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons, and obelisks dedicated to the Theban gods and the glory of Egypt’s pharaohs. Karnak was the most important place for worship of the Theban Triad (Amun, Mut, and Khonsu). Then drive to visit Luxor Temple. Note: If your cruise arrives by 3:00 or 3:30 PM, you can visit both Karnak and Luxor Temples on the East Bank of Luxor. If not, the visit will be scheduled for the next day.

Luxor Temple - After visiting Karnak Temples, proceed to Luxor Temple, largely built by New Kingdom Pharaoh Amenhotep III of the 18th dynasty and completed by King Tutankhamun and King Ramesses II. The first pylon was raised by Ramesses II and decorated with scenes of his military battle of Kadesh. Dinner on board and overnight in Luxor.

Check out & West Bank Visit.

Colossi of Memnon - After breakfast on board, check out from the Nile cruise and start your West Bank visit with a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon. These twin statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, each 60 feet tall, stand at the entrance of his mortuary temple. They are named after a phenomenon produced by one of the statues after an earthquake. Originally built in the Theban Necropolis west of the Nile River in modern Luxor, the statues are made of quartzite sandstone, believed to have been quarried near modern Cairo and transported 420 miles to Thebes. Then drive to visit Hatshepsut Temple.

Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Visit the temple of Queen Hatshepsut and discover her beautiful temple and intriguing story with her nephew. Rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces, the temple merges with the limestone cliffs of the Theban Mountain, as if nature itself built this extraordinary monument. Then drive to visit the Valley of the Kings.

Valley of the Kings - Arrive at the Valley of the Kings, known as the Great Place of Truth. This majestic domain of the pharaohs once held great stone sarcophagi, awaiting immortality. Explore the tombs and resting places of remarkable Egyptian kings such as Merneptah, Ramesses III, and Ramesses VI. Then transfer to Luxor railway station, airport, or your hotel in Luxor. Lunch is not included. A hot air balloon ride over the West Bank of Luxor is available as an optional tour upon request.
