Unforgettable Lost City Experience - The tour we did with Niko and Erika was incredible. If you want a tour of the lost City with the best service, in depth knowledge of the indigenous people in the area, amazing food, beautiful swimming spots, private talks with indigenous elders, comforting support on the tough walking days, some great surprises along the way and to see the best wildlife, then you've got to go with Niko. He is the man! If you want to do the Lost City, you'd be crazy to do it with anyone else.

Walk to the Lost City. - An unforgettable experience. Everything was very well organized logistically. The hike was demanding at times but arriving at the next campsite felt rewarding. Very good attention from the guides who shared their knowledge and adjusted the pace of the walk to the members of the group. The agency and its management are highly recommended.

Lost City of Santa Marta - I went on one of our dream trips with my wife. Visit the Lost City of Santa Marta. An unforgettable experience. That contact with the peasant communities, with the indigenous people, with the forests and with the Buritaca River was wonderful, despite the effort of 4 days of marching. But this dream came true thanks to Ecosierra Perdida Tours. From contact with the people from the agency, some very kind young women, who gave us all the information we required for the trip, this assured us success in this adventure. I want to thank our guide Juliana Bastos. What an excellent and friendly professional, with her permanent smile, with great knowledge of her work, of the region, of the nature that surrounded us. Likewise, our thanks to the entire Ecosierra Perdida Tours team, both in the office and on the ground, including our young and excellent cook Adrián and our translator Pascal, all of them made our trip a success.

Great multi-day hike - The hike was great! We've walked for about 60kms and 3200m of climbing. We had a great guide and translator that helped us throughout. The accommodations were good and food was as well. It definitely required some effort to get there, but was all worth it. Would definitely do something similar again!

Fraud - Scam - Judy (the administrator of Ecosierra) and her colleague manipulated me into buying a 4-day tour to the Ciudad Perdida for €530 by purposefully omitting information that I needed to be able to make an informed decision about whether this tour was what I was right for me, and to be able to prepare and take along the right clothes and equipment. I was sold an “individual” tour package and was told I would have a guide. Not once was I told that I would be part of a group of 16 people, and eating and sleeping in shared accommodation (no separate rooms, instead long rows of bunk beds) with up to 100 other people, mostly much younger than me. It was like summer camp. Loud, noisy, busy. Drowning out the peace and quiet of the mountains. It was nothing like the “individual package” I had been sold by Ecosierra. Apart from the awful experience of being forced to participate in a guided tour with a mass of people, I was also not told that I had to bring my own towel, own soap, and that I needed to bring several changes of clothes because nothing dries. I was not offered hiking sticks, I wasn’t asked about my trekking or hiking experience, I was told that we would remain in the warm climate region, but we ascended up into the colder region leaving me feeling cold and uncomfortable. Ultimately, being cold and having to wear wet underwear resulted in me suffering an UTI, which I had to treat with antibiotics. I reached out to Judy on the second day of the hike and let her know that I was disillusioned, that the trip was nothing like I had imagined, that I felt scammed but them, and that if she had informed me honestly about how the trip would be, with so many people that I wouldn’t have bought the trip. I also told her that it was meant to be a very special trip for me, that they had led me to believe that I would have a private tour, and that I don’t have the money to do it again as a real “individual tour”. I also said that I would have paid the difference to have a private guide, had she been honest about the “mass touring” conditions of the tour. She refused to take any responsibility for not telling me honestly about the set-up and conditions of the trip, for not sharing with me the information that I needed to be able to make an informed decision. By the time I spoke with Judy, I had told the guides and translator who were part of the tour about my situation and they were so kind to arrange for a separate overnight stay for myself, for one night in a small cabin which I shared with 3 other people. It came at an extra cost, which I told Judy about. The only “compensation” she offered for the emotional, and in the end physical distress she caused me, was to pay for half of the extra cost that I incurred for the separate overnight stay, amounting to around €27. That was all. No apology, no compensation. Nothing. When I arrived at the office having finished the tour, the person there asked me how it went. I shared briefly that I had a bad experience, that I was disappointed, because it was nothing like they had made me believe it would be, and that I had spoken with Judy but that no one was taking responsibility for their fraudulent behaviour. Her response was to smile at me. That was it. So I left.
