Siem Reap Angkor International Pick Up, Visit Beng Mealea and Koh Ker Temple

Beng Mealea - After picking you up from Siem Reap Angkor Airport, we’ll take a break at a local restaurant to enjoy some fresh coconut before heading to the Beng Mealea temple (Jungle Temple). Beng Mealea is a temple from the Angkor Wat period, located 40 km (25 mi) east of the main group of temples at Angkor, Cambodia, along the ancient royal highway to Preah Khan Kompong Svay. Note that the temple pass is included with the Angkor Wat Pass, so please purchase your Angkor Pass online in advance via Angkor Enterprise.

Koh Ker Temple - After visiting the Beng Mealea temple, we will proceed to the Koh Ker temple. Koh Ker is a 10th-century temple complex situated in the northern Cambodian jungle. Once the capital of the Khmer Empire, the site is now remote and heavily forested. The main structure, Koh Ker Temple, is a stepped 7-tiered pyramid. The large rectangular tank, Rahal Baray, supplied water to the complex. The Prasat Krahom, meaning “red temple,” is known for its sandstone carvings, while Prasat Pram is covered in strangler figs. You will need to purchase a ticket pass for this temple upon arrival.

Angkor Wat, Banteay Srei, Bayon, Ta Prohm, and Banteay Samre Temple

Siem Reap - We are in the city of Siem Reap, which means “defeated Siam,” commemorating the 17th-century Khmer victory over the Thai kingdom of Ayutthaya. This city is the capital of Siem Reap province, located in northwest Cambodia, and serves as our base for daily trips to visit the temples of Angkor.

Banteay Srei - After breakfast, we will depart for the archaeological area of Angkor to visit the Banteay Srei temple (967 AD), dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva and renowned for its friezes carved in red sandstone. Known by various nicknames such as “the temple of the lady,” “the tiny temple,” and “the pink temple,” Banteay Srei is a unique gem that stands out from the grandeur of the main Angkorian complex. The name Banteay Srei (or Banteay Srey) means “citadel of women” or “citadel of beauty,” possibly due to its miniature staircase, pink limestone, and elaborate carvings of many devatas (minor female divinities) adorning its walls.

Banteay Samre - On our way back, we will visit Banteay Samre, built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the mid-12th century.

Eastern Mebon - Next, we will visit the 10th-century Eastern Mebon temple.

Pre Rup - After visiting the Eastern Mebon temple, we will continue to the Pre Rup temple.

Prasat Kravan - After visiting the Pre Rup temple, we will proceed to the Prasat Kravan.

Ta Prohm Temple - We will spend 1 hour visiting the Ta Prohm temple.

Bayon Temple - We will spend 1 hour visiting the Bayon temple and the Angkor Thom city areas.

Angkor Wat - We will conclude our trip at Angkor Wat before returning to the hotel. Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world and the best-preserved temple in the Angkor settlement, covering nearly 10 square kilometers. Its name means “temple city,” and it has become a symbol of Cambodia, even appearing on the national flag. It is one of the most significant archaeological treasures on the planet and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992. Founded by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century, it is renowned for its grandeur and architectural beauty. Originally dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, protector of creation, its layout is based on a mandala or sacred design of the Hindu cosmos. At the center of the complex stands a temple with five towers shaped like lotus flowers, representing Mount Meru, the mythical abode of the gods and the center of the universe.
