Short Inca Trail, Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu with Jose - Two wonderful days in and around the iconic Machu Picchu. First day was along the Inca Trail, 16 km through high jungle, waterfalls, the ancient terraces of Winaywayba, Intipunku (Sun Gate), then down to Machu Picchu and that famous “postcard” view everybody instinctively recognizes. Second day was the proper visit to Machu Picchu and a rewarding hike up the vertiginous steps to Huayna Picchu, with truly awe-inspiring views of the site and the surrounding valleys. Our expert guide, Jose, was knowledgeable, mindful, perceptive and very sociable. He truly cherishes his job and transmits his passion to anyone around him. Contrary to some guides who sometimes try to awkwardly engineer a manufactured sense of “fun” and “community”, he managed to bring an effortlessly easy-going vibe to the whole trip. And that was with a 7-people group of different ages, languages and backgrounds who didn’t know each other before. Ask for Jose’s services if he’s available and you won’t regret it.
