Highlights

Depart from Durban and head to Tala Game Reserve

Tala Private Game Reserve - We depart from Durban at 7.30am and head off to Tala Game Reserve for a 4x4 game drive.

Tala Private Game Reserve spans over 3,000 hectares of pristine wilderness, offering an unforgettable wildlife experience.
Your tour begins with a leisurely drive through the reserve, accompanied by one of the experienced game rangers. Keep your eyes peeled for the rhino - as well as other exciting species such as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and numerous antelope species.
As you explore the diverse landscape, your guide will share fascinating insights into the reserve’s history, ecology, and wildlife conservation efforts.

Natal Lion Park - From Tala Game Reserve we head to Natal Lion Park for a short 1 hour game drive where we see lions and elephants and admire the very thick bush. We also see a variety of birds.

Howick Falls - From Natal Lion Park we head to Howick Falls. Howick Fall is 20 minutes from Pietermaritzberg. Howick Falls are simply breathtaking, and the deafening rush of water from the viewing deck is incredibly relaxing and mystifying at the same time. At 95m, they’re the same height as Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and date back to when Kwazulu Natal was first inhabited by man. Several arts and crafts stalls can be found on the viewing platform and along Morling Road which leads down to the falls.

Nelson Mandela Capture Site - From Howick Falls we head to the Nelson Mandela Capture Site, also in Howick. Here we visit the museum and the world renowned Nelson Mandela monument.

Nelson Mandela was arrested on 5 August 1962 outside Howick,
Natal, South Africa. He spent the next 27 years of his life in prison.

The Nelson Mandela Capture Site commemorates this moment in history with a visitor centre and a world renowned sculpture.

Underberg - From Nelson Mandela Capture Site we take a drive in the Natal Midlands as we head to Underberg for the night. Right at the foot of the majestic mountains of the southern Drakensberg, Underberg is a little town that exudes a lot of charm. In fact, it has the kind of ethereal beauty that can only come from looming mountains, lush greenery, and the endless blue of African skies. This part of KwaZulu-Natal is supremely tranquil, but also offers so much in the way of trails and outdoors adventures.
