Airport pick-up - Bucharest City Tour & Accommodation

Palace of Parliament - Built by Communist Party leader, Nicolae Ceausescu, the colossal Parliament Palace is the second largest administrative building in the world after the Pentagon. The interior is a luxurious display of crystal chandeliers, mosaics, oak paneling, marble, gold leaf, stained-glass windows and floors covered in rich carpets.

Muzeul National al Satului \”Dimitrie Gusti\” - Village Museum - Founded by royal decree in 1936, this fascinating outdoor museum, the largest in Europe, covers some 30 acres on the shores of Lake Herastrau in Herastrau Park. It features a collection of 50 buildings representing the history and design of Romania’s rural architecture.

Old Town - Walking tour Historical Center of Bucharest - Perhaps the city’s unique charm can be best observed in the area known as Lipscani, which consists of a jumble of streets between Calea Victoriei, Blvd. Bratianu, Blvd. Regina Elisabeta and the Dambovita River. A once-glamorous residential area, the old city centre is now slowly being refashioned into an upscale neighborhood.

Unzip Romania is the best way to see this wonderful country - We count ourselves fortunate to have selected Unzip Romania for our introduction to this beautiful country. Our guide, Christian, provided an excellent experience with honest insight into Romanian history. The tour included a great balance of different types of historical sites, beautiful scenery, and regular Romanian life. Each night’s lodgings were well selected and the food was Amazing!! We plan to return to Romania and will definitely hire Unzip Romania again!

Great trip, great company (in all respects) - We had a 10 day custom tour of Romania in June 2019, and from the first communication by email to the final drop off, everything was exceptional. Organising the tour by email with Diana was easy, and she was flexible with the arrangements, made thoughtful and sensible suggestions and was very considerate of our requirements. Our guide, Gabriel had an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Romania, from history and architecture to food and culture. He was a pleasure to travel with and we had some wonderful conversations. Unzip Romania is a small company who are flexible and can cater for individual needs, but has guides with many years experience who can make changes to the program as the need arises - in our case the weather prevented us from going on a planned hike, and another attraction was closed unexpectedly, so Gabriel gave us a number of options which provided us with some fabulous, unexpected experiences. This sort of experience in the field and willingness to make changes on the fly was much appreciated. We recommend Unzip Romania without hesitation.

Really a 7 day tour of Romania including most of the country - Gabriel "Gabby" Florea was our tour guide for 7 days and took us on tour of: Bucharest - including Parliament Palace and the "Old Town" (we were sorry we missed the Village Museum - as it is highly recommended, but closed on the day we were there (closed Monday's in the winter fall/months)); Bucovina (Voronet Monastery); Painted Monasteries of Humor, Sucevita, Moldovita; Black Pottery Workshop; Painted Eggs Museum; Drove thru Bicaz Gorges (and then walked back thru); Red Lake; Sighisoara - Biertan Fortified Church; Transylvania -- Brasov; Libearty Bear Sanctuary; Rasnov Fortress; Peles Castle; Sinaia Monastery and Bran Castle (Castle of Dracula). We had no idea of what to expect in Romania and were very pleased with the tour and the country. Gabby went above and beyond on making sure we had a good time. The tour included everything we wanted to see in the time we had. My wife and I toured with another couple we are friends and we traveled in a 9 passenger van (4 more relatives of our friends joined the tour for 2 days) with Gabby driving and talking as we toured. He was a very safe/careful driver. He knew as much as anyone we have met about their country and its history (which was actually very interesting to learn). He was easy to understand and had a good sense of humor. The tour mixed the castles/monasteries with nature type things (which we liked as we can get "over castled" quickly). We laughed our way through Romania as we saw most of the highlights of Romania for the time we had to visit. He also took us to good restaurants and was able to get better seating locations than we would have and also able to get us in to some "restricted" areas of attractions. We ran into to other guides during the week that Gabby had trained or helped over the years. We would highly recommend Gabby for touring any parts of Romania.

Fantastic trip that far exceeded expectations - We met our guide at Cluj Napoca airport as Diana suggested this was a better option for us coming from Budapest. From the moment we started, the trip was exceptionally well organised and thought out. We asked to stay in small local hotels with good locations and they were all exactly what we wanted- serving wonderful hearty breakfasts and also dinners if we wanted them. Each day was packed with more surprises and although the trip was very busy we never felt exhausted. Gabriel our guide was a wealth of information on the history and politics of Romania and he also gave us a fascinating insight into life in Romania both pre and post revolution. Prior to booking with Unzip I had asked two other companies for suggestions but the efficiency of the Unzip office and their ability to think "outside the box" regarding the itinerary, as well as their flexible approach to listening to what we wanted, encouraged me to book with them. We were not disappointed - we also enjoyed fantastic weather and the autumn colours in the forests added just one more "wow" factor.
