Into the Heart of the Desert

The sun was a blazing orb in the sky as we set off on our Dubai Desert Safari adventure. As a former extreme sports athlete, I’ve trekked through many deserts, but the Arabian Desert promised something unique. Our guide, Asif, picked us up promptly at 2:00 pm, and we were off to the desert in Sharjah. The anticipation was electric as we drove through the cityscape, leaving the towering skyscrapers behind for the endless dunes.

Our first stop was a camel farm, a serene oasis in the midst of the desert. The camels, with their gentle eyes and swaying gaits, were a sight to behold. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to ride one, feeling the rhythm of the desert beneath me. It was a moment of calm before the storm of adrenaline that awaited us.

Adrenaline on the Dunes

The real thrill began as we reached the ABC Tours compound. The desert stretched out before us, a vast playground of golden sands. We geared up for the ATV ride, the engines roaring to life as we took off into the open desert. The rush of wind against my face and the shifting sands beneath the wheels was exhilarating. It was a dance with the desert, each turn and jump a testament to the power of nature and machine.

While waiting for our turn on the ATVs, we explored the souvenir shop, where I picked up a traditional Kandura and Shemag. It was a perfect blend of culture and adventure, a reminder of the rich heritage of the region.

The sandboarding was another highlight, a thrilling ride down the dunes that left my heart racing. As someone who has surfed waves and skied down mountains, this was a unique experience that combined the best of both worlds.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the desert transformed into a magical landscape. We gathered at the ABC Tours Majlis Desert Safari Camp, where the evening’s entertainment awaited. The cultural shows were a feast for the senses, with the Tanoura and Belly Dancer captivating the audience. But it was the fire show that truly stole the night, a dazzling display of skill and artistry that left us all in awe.

The BBQ buffet dinner was a sumptuous affair, a perfect end to a day filled with adventure. As we sat under the starlit sky, sharing stories and laughter, I felt a deep sense of connection to this land and its people. The desert had welcomed us with open arms, and I knew this was an experience I would carry with me forever.
