Setting Sail to Ixtapa Island

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I found myself being picked up by Ulises, our friendly driver, at the resort. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that my partner and I were the only ones on this tour, making it feel like a private adventure. As a former professional surfer, I’ve always had a deep connection with the ocean, and the thought of exploring the vibrant marine life of Ixtapa Island had me buzzing with excitement.

Our journey began at Playa Linda, where we boarded a water taxi that whisked us away to the island. The ride was smooth, and the anticipation of what lay ahead was palpable. Ixtapa Island, with its untouched charm, greeted us with open arms. No hotels or houses cluttered the landscape, just the pure, unspoiled beauty of nature. We were dropped off at Veradero Beach, a quieter spot compared to the bustling main beach, and it was the perfect place to start our day.

Snorkeling at Coral Beach

With our snorkeling gear in hand, we made our way to Coral Beach, just a short walk from Veradero. The water was crystal clear, and as soon as I dipped beneath the surface, I was transported to another world. The vibrant colors of the fish and the intricate formations of the live coral were mesmerizing. It was like swimming in a living painting, each stroke revealing more of the ocean’s hidden treasures.

I spotted a large crab scuttling across the ocean floor, its movements graceful and deliberate. The abundance of marine life was astounding, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and gratitude for the opportunity to witness such beauty firsthand. As someone who spends a lot of time in the water, this experience was a reminder of why I fell in love with the ocean in the first place.

A Taste of Island Life

After our snorkeling adventure, we returned to Veradero Beach, where a delicious lunch awaited us. The ceviche tostada was a burst of fresh flavors, and the fish, served with garlic, rice, and a salad, was cooked to perfection. Dining with the sea breeze in our hair and the sound of the waves as our soundtrack was the epitome of island living.

With our bellies full and spirits high, we spent some time lounging in the warm waters of Veradero Beach. The tranquility of the moment was a perfect end to our island escapade. As we took the water taxi back to Playa Linda and eventually returned to our hotel, I couldn’t help but reflect on the day’s adventures. This tour was a beautiful reminder of the simple joys of life and the incredible wonders that await just beneath the ocean’s surface.
