Fenqi Hu Old Street - Fènqì Hú is a key station on the Alishan Forest Railway, a narrow-gauge railway built during the Japanese colonial era for timber transport. Today, it serves as a scenic tourist route. Upon arrival, it’s the perfect time to enjoy “Fenqi Hu Bento,” a must-try local delicacy.

Hinoki Village - Located in Chiayi City’s East District, Hinoki Village is Taiwan’s first forest-themed cultural and creative park. It preserves 28 Japanese-style wooden buildings from the Japanese colonial period, primarily constructed with precious Alishan hinoki (cypress) wood. Originally a residential area for forestry workers, it was known as “Hinokicho.”

These historical buildings highlight Chiayi’s significant role in Taiwan’s forestry industry. After meticulous restoration, the village reopened in 2014 as a lively cultural destination that combines history, creativity, and nature.

With its strong Japanese ambiance and well-preserved architecture, Hinoki Village is often called the “Little Kyoto of Taiwan.”
