Guiyang to Kaili. Overnight in Kaili
Qingyan Ancient Town - At 9:00 AM, the driver and guide will meet you in your hotel lobby to transfer you to Qingyan Ancient Town, established in 1378 by Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming dynasty (1368–1644).
Initially, Qingyan served as a post station, a crucial link on the ancient route from Guangxi to Guizhou, handling government documents and military intelligence. Later, it became a garrison settlement.
Today, the town spans 3 square kilometers, retaining much of its original layout and many ancient buildings from the Qing (1644–1912) and Ming dynasties. Visitors can admire well-preserved stone-slab lanes, archways, watchtowers, and battlements.
Originally constructed from stone, the town still boasts impressive stone walls with gates facing north, south, east, and west. Of the original eight stone tablets outside the gates, three remain, each intricately sculpted.
Numerous historical relics endure, including 37 tourist attractions: 9 temples, 8 shrines, 5 pavilions, 3 caves, 2 ancestral halls, 1 palace, and 1 academy. There are also 3 ancient archways, most exquisitely carved with terrapins, dragons, and other traditional Chinese motifs.
Less ornate but still noteworthy are the remnants of a Catholic and a Protestant church, with the Protestant church still in use.
Miao Village - Before checking into the hotel in Kaili, visit the Lanhua, Jidao, and Langde Miao villages, located just an hour’s drive from Kaili city center.
Langde Village, 30 km from Kaili, is nestled beside a clear stream and surrounded by lush mountains. Upon arrival, partake in the local custom of drinking “block-the-way” wine as a welcome gesture. Twelve tables are set along the path from the main road to the village gate. Explore traditional Miao-style stilt houses and enjoy sweet Miao folk songs. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll along the cobblestone or bluestone roads and courtyards.

Built in 1916, it measures 64.4 meters (73.43 yards) long, 3.4 meters (3.72 yards) wide, and 10.6 meters (34.78 feet) high. Yulong River - After Xianggong Hill, transfer to the Yangshuo Yulong River for a bamboo boat ride.
The Yulong River, with its dramatic karst landscape, silky waters, and ancient bridges, is ideal for bamboo rafting. Known as ‘the Little Li River,’ it is a tributary of the Li.
West Street - Next, visit West Street for lunch.
This is Yangshuo’s oldest street, with a history spanning over 1,400 years. Located in the center of Yangshuo County, the street has become a cultural hub since the 1980s, blending Eastern and Western influences and serving as China’s largest ‘foreign language center.’ Each year, approximately 100,000 foreigners visit for travel or advanced studies, drawn by West Street’s unique cultural mix.
Impression Sanjie Liu - At 6:40 PM, the guide will meet you in the West Street area to head to the Impression Sanjie Liu Light Show. Please have dinner before the show, as the driver will take you directly back to the hotel afterward. Assistance with booking show tickets is provided.
Unlike other shows in enclosed spaces, the Impression of Liu Sanjie is staged on the actual Li River, stretching 2 km (1.25 miles).
