Guilin- Zhengzhou- Shaolin Temple -Luoyang (L)

Shaolin Temple - The driver will collect guests from their Guilin city hotel lobby and transport them to the airport for a 2-hour flight to Zhengzhou.

Upon arrival, the tour guide will be waiting with a name sign at the exit of the Arrival Hall. Guests will board a private air-conditioned vehicle and head directly to Shaolin Temple (1.5 hours). The tour guide will share historical insights and stories along the way, and guests are encouraged to ask questions.

Shaolin Temple is renowned for Chinese Kung Fu. Visitors will have the opportunity to witness authentic Kung Fu performed by Shaolin monks. As a UNESCO Site, the Shaolin Temple was initially constructed in 495 A.D. Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-557) later expanded the temple to accommodate the Indian master Batuo. Recognized as the birthplace of Chan Buddhism and the cradle of Kung Fu, Shaolin Temple holds significant cultural importance. With the knowledgeable tour guide, guests will learn about the temple’s history, culture, and people.

Pagoda Forest of Shaolin Temple - The next stop is the Pagoda Forest, a collection of tomb pagodas for the temple’s eminent monks and abbots. With over 240 tomb pagodas from the Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties (618-1911), it is the largest pagoda forest in China.

LuoYang LaoCheng LiShi WenHua GuJie - After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, the journey continues to Luoyang city (1.5 hours drive). Guests can relax and enjoy the countryside views.

Longmen Grottoes- White Horse Temple (B,L)

Longmen Grottoes - The tour guide will meet guests in the lobby of their Luoyang hotel and proceed directly to Longmen Grottoes.

As a UNESCO Site, the Longmen Grottoes feature over 2,300 caves and niches carved into steep limestone cliffs over a 1km stretch. It is the largest and most impressive collection of Chinese art from the late Northern Wei and Tang Dynasties (316-907). With the knowledgeable tour guide, guests will also visit the Fengxian Temple and the Wanfo Cave.

Guests will then enjoy a boat ride to take in the stunning panoramic views of Longmen Grottoes.

White Horse Temple - The tour continues with a visit to the White Horse Temple.

The White Horse Temple, established in 68 CE by Emperor Ming in the Eastern Han Dynasty’s capital, is the first Buddhist temple built in China. Guests will explore the halls and pavilions with their guide, learning about Buddhism’s history and culture.

Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant. After the tour, guests can choose to conclude their tour in Luoyang/Zhengzhou or return to Guilin.
