Zhangjiajie National Forest Park - On this full-day tour, the guide will meet participants at 9:00 am in the hotel lobby in central Zhangjiajie city or at a Wulingyuan hotel. The tour includes visits to various mountain areas such as Tianzi Mountain, where the world’s longest cable car ride takes visitors to the mountain’s peak, and the uniquely shaped Yuanjiajie Mountain.

With its majestic mountain ranges, deep valleys, mysterious caves, lush vegetation, cascading waterfalls, and mist-covered stone pillars, Hunan’s Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is a natural wonderland.

The park is home to over 500 species of wildlife and vegetation, including rare monkeys, gingko trees, and thousands of colorful birds. Its most notable geographic features are the hundreds of towering sandstone pillars. Fans of Hollywood blockbusters will recognize the stunning landscape as the inspiration for the scenery of Pandora in James Cameron’s hit movie Avatar.

Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area of Zhangjiajie - The Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area is renowned for its natural beauty, where mountains, valleys, forests, caves, lakes, and waterfalls exist in perfect harmony. There are over 560 attractions here. The uniquely shaped peaks, peculiar stones, hidden valleys, wonderful waters, and limestone caves form the ‘Five Wonders’ of Wulingyuan, which are truly worth seeing.

Covering an area of 690 square kilometers (266 square miles), the Wulingyuan Scenic Area consists of four parts: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve, Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, and the newly added Yangjiajie Scenic Area.

Today’s tour will visit the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve area.

Tianzi Mountain - After purchasing the main park entrance tickets, visitors will take a shuttle bus (20 minutes drive) to the Tianzi Mountain cable station and walk up 200 steps to reach the station.

Tianzi Mountain Clouds - After a 20-minute cable car ride, visitors will reach the top of Tianzi Mountain and take another shuttle bus (5 minutes drive) to the Tianzi Mountain central area, which offers stunning views of peaks rising one after another. Known as ‘the Monarch of the Peak Forest,’ the top of the mountain provides a full view of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area. Beautiful scenes greet visitors in different seasons, with four wonders: the Sea of Clouds, the Radiance of the Moonlight, Rays of Sunshine, and Snow in winter.

BaiLong Elevator - After visiting Yuanjiajie (Avatar Mountain), visitors will take a shuttle (15 minutes drive) to the Bailong Elevator. The Bailong Elevator is magnificent, with a total height of 335 meters (1,099 feet), of which the running height is 326 meters (1,069 feet). 154 meters (505 feet) of the total height is in the mountain wells, and the remaining 172 meters (564 feet) is composed of steel derrick and other components. The elevator includes three exposure sightseeing elevators running parallelly. Each elevator can carry 50 passengers at a time, and the speed is 3 m/s (accelerated to 5 m/s since 2013). If all three elevators run simultaneously, they can transport 4,000 passengers per hour.

Golden Whip Brook - Visitors will hike for about an hour along the Golden Whip Stream and then take a shuttle to exit the park and return to the hotel. Golden Whip Stream (Jinbian Stream) is famous for its pristine water, verdant mountains, steep cliffs, and serene valley. As a “paradise” for plants, its pathways are adorned with an abundance of flowers, trees, and grasses. It is also a kingdom of animals. Golden Whip Stream is named after Golden Whip Crag, its landmark spot, and runs from Laomo Bay to Shui Rao Si Men (water-surrounded gates).

Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge - After lunch, visitors will transfer to the Glass Bridge. A local expert guide will lead the adventure trip in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, which is famous among explorers and nature lovers from home and abroad, featuring typical Zhangjiajie landforms, breathtaking cliffs, lush forests, ancient caves, colorful ponds, and a river running through the canyon. Walk on the world’s longest and highest Glass Bridge in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. Hanging over a valley, the glass bridge provides a superb panorama of the entire grand canyon. Enjoy a scenic walk boasting waterfalls and wonderful views on each side. Standing on it feels like floating in the air.

Zhangjiajie - At the end, the guide will escort visitors to their hotel in Zhangjiajie or Wulingyuan.

Zhangjiajie - At 9:00 am, the tour guide will meet visitors at the hotel lobby and transfer them to Zhangjiajie Tianmen Park.

Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park - Visitors will spend 3-4 hours at Tianmen Mountain Park. They will use the cable car or shuttle bus to go up the hill, depending on traffic. Tianmen Mountain is known as the “New Legend Of Zhangjiajie.” It’s the highest spot (1,500m) in Zhangjiajie, where visitors can walk on an exciting cliff-path and glass walkway and see the whole city and beautiful countryside from a bird’s-eye view. The landscape is different from, yet on the same level as, the ZJJ National Park. Both are world-class scenery, making it a must-visit highlight of the city. What is more unbelievable is that this single mountain holds 4 World Guinness Records in its small body, and any of them will be overwhelmingly impressive to any visitor. It promises an amazing experience like no other.

Airport Road - After lunch, the guide will escort visitors to Zhangjiajie airport for a flight to Shanghai. They may take the CA3204 flight from 19:25-21:30. The flight takes around 2 hours.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport - Upon arrival in Shanghai, visitors will be picked up on time and transferred to their Shanghai hotel (driver only, no guide).

Shanghai - The guide will pick visitors up at the hotel lobby at around 09:00 in the morning. They will be escorted to the well-known Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, a 20-minute ride away.

Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall - At the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, visitors can view many textual and graphic files and architectural models, which will help them gain an overall understanding of Shanghai’s development.

The Urban Planning Exhibition Hall showcases the urbanization and modernization of Shanghai. Visitors will learn more about Shanghai’s past and present by viewing miniatures of the city and rich materials about city planning. High-tech methods are widely adopted to forecast Shanghai’s blueprint through 2020.

Yu Garden (Yuyuan) - In the afternoon, visitors can enjoy a relaxing time strolling in the beautiful Yu Garden. Located in the old town, Yuyuan Garden is the most famous ancient site in the city for its ingenious layout and delicate architecture. The treasure of the garden, Yu Ling Long (an exquisite jade stone), an artificial hill, is considered one of the three most well-known peaks in Southern China.

Yuyuan Old Street - Next, visitors will explore the Yuyuan Bazaar, also known as Yuyuan Market, located outside Yu Garden, in the heart of Old Shanghai City, and close to the Old City God Temple. There are many traditional Chinese buildings, now used as commercial stores selling local products, snacks, jewelry, souvenirs, antiques, and more.

Shanghai World Financial Center - Afterwards, visitors will go to the Shanghai World Financial Center and ascend to the 100th floor for panoramic views of the city. It is the world’s 8th tallest building and the 4th tallest structure in Mainland China. The 100th floor has a viewing gallery that is 55 meters long. It is the second-highest observation deck in China, higher than the viewing platforms on the Canadian TV Tower (447 meters) and the Dubai Tower (440 meters).

The Bund (Wai Tan) - After that, visitors will come to the Bund area, which is quintessential to Shanghai. Located on the bank of the Huangpu River, travelers visit the Bund not only for the charming riverside scenery but also for the unique western and gothic architectures. Free time will be set aside for visitors to stroll around the Bund and take photos.

Shanghai - Finally, visitors will be driven back to their hotel, or they may enjoy their own time at Nanjing Road, which is very close by.

Zhujiajiao Ancient Town - The Zhujiajiao water town is renowned throughout the country, with a history of more than 1,700 years. Covering an area of 47 square kilometers (11,614 acres), the fan-shaped town, regarded as Shanghai’s Venice, glimmers like a bright pearl in the landscape of lakes and mountains. Three places in the water town deserve a visit: Kezhi Garden, Qing Dynasty Post Office, and Fangsheng Bridge. The tour guide will accompany visitors to these sites.

Jade Buddha Temple - After lunch, visitors will be taken to the Jade Buddha Temple. Built in 1882 for the two white jade Buddha statues from Burma, the Jade Buddha Temple is a famous Buddhist shrine and an active Zen monastery. The temple plays an important role in disseminating Buddhism through cultural means, including lectures and library services, Buddhist academic publications, as well as regular Buddhist cultural activities.

Tianzifang - The tour will conclude at Tianzifang, an old-style cultural block featuring distinctive Shikumen buildings with art studios, themed cafés and bars, and handicraft workshops.

Shanghai - At the end, the guide will escort visitors to their hotel/airport/train station. End of tour services.
