During the Soviet occupation, this military base housed four medium-range P-12 and P-12У rockets equipped with nuclear warheads. Currently, the base is abandoned. The visit will begin with a tour of the local museum dedicated to this base and the nearby village, followed by a visit to the base itself. Visitors will have the opportunity to see military structures, rocket storage hangars, launch silos, and a massive Lenin’s head at the center of it all.
- The Secret Soviet Bunker - Located within the rehabilitation center Līgatne, 9 meters underground, is a well-equipped bunker facility covering a total area of 2,000 sq.m. Its secrecy classification was lifted only in 2003. The bunker was constructed in the 1980s for the Soviet political and state authority elite to manage state affairs in the event of a nuclear war. All internal parts of the bunker and its equipment are preserved in their original state. A local guide will lead the tour in English.
- More - The Mores Battle Museum was established at a site where, from September 26 to October 6, 1944, intense battles occurred between Latvian legionnaires and Soviet army soldiers during World War II. In collaboration with the Soldiers’ Association and the Latvian Officers’ Association, the first exhibition of objects found on the battlefield and documented materials about this war episode was created.
On the first floor of the museum, visitors can explore a war-themed exhibition, while the second floor features an exhibition of old household items and crafts. Additionally, the open-air exhibition showcases the T-34 tank.
